"The function of education...is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically." (Dr. King, Feb 1947)
Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on #MLKDay 🕊️ Let's echo his call for an equitable education system that empowers every child. 📚💙 #EducationForAll
As educators, we must be mindful of disenfranchised grief in children and teens dealing with loss. Recognize signs of pain amid insensitive comments. Break the stigma, encourage open conversations, and support their grieving process. 💙 #studentgrief#RecognizeGrief#EdEquity

Schools report an uptick in student misconduct post-pandemic, but kids are navigating complicated feelings and emotions in the rush to "return back to normal." Here's why #schooldiscipline practices must be critiqued and revised https://t.co/aLsQG8XNfl
Instead of showing me your diversity statement, show me your hiring data, your discrimination claim stats, your salary tables, your retention numbers, your diversity policies, and your leaders’ public actions against racism.
End performative allyship.
"To insist that our students have suffered learning loss begs us to ask:
• Loss from what?
• Loss for whom?
• Who is gaining now?
• What if the loss is a loss in inflicting harm?"

There is no way to work toward equity without being a learner. It doesn’t matter your background, identity, credentials or anything else. The moment we act as though we’ve arrived, the journey ends.
Even the statement, “Let’s invite more Black people to the table,” implies ownership of the table and control of who is invited.
Racism is about power.
~ @BerniceKing
We always ask people, "what kind of learner are you?" Do we ever consider, perhaps how one learns depends on how one is lead? So, what kind of leader are you?
Early learning sets kids up for success—just like the rest of their education. We don't ask parents to pick up the full cost of sending their child to second grade. So we shouldn’t ask them to pick up the full cost of early education for their three-year-old, either.

As we near the end of #TeacherAppreciationWeek, a reminder that we can show our appreciation for teachers by paying them a fair salary. Teachers make between 2.0% and 32.7% less than other comparable college-educated workers, depending on the state. https://t.co/vdwAwiXmod
