What a great way to finish 2022! It was an enormous honour to be awarded an OBE in His Majesty The King's New Year Honours list. It has not really sunk in yet. Wishing you a Happy New Year !
Lovely to be out for a little six mile run this morning, but it really is that time of year again, as the mud and puddles are well and truly back! π€£π
RUFF justice indeed! Richard is a local legend who is immensely popular with my fellow Horsley villagers. And his equally popular sidekick, George, is an extremely well-behaved hound!πΆTime for @SW_Help to change their "no dog at work" policy.
Sad to hear that @SW_Help planning to dispense with the services of George the station dog, along with his owner station master Richard Bunce. Sounds like RUFF justice to me! A little less tick-boxing would brighten up everyone's day.
Hard to believe that it was 29 years ago today that I opened @thebeargarden ! The 2nd November 1992 seems so long ago! Wow, how the years have flown by! π₯³π€ͺπ
Yesterday I stepped down as President of the National Conservative Convention. It was an honour, which included hosting our 2020 Conference. I leave knowing my successor Debbie Toon will be amazing! I now serve my 3rd & final year as Vice President (I previously served 2 yrs).
On this day in 2019, Boris Johnson entered Downing Street as Prime Minister.
Since then we have delivered Brexit, provided Β£400 billion in pandemic recovery assistance, signed trade deals, boosted defence spending, recruited new police, and more: https://t.co/8vmLWdavux
Good to hear the candidates for the leadership of the voluntary side of the @Conservatives earlier.
Iβll be supporting Peter Booth, who has proven himself to be a motivator and team builder, who will work full time to strengthen our organisation to deliver election victories. ππ»
Wonderful dinner at The Carlton Club last night with my fellow National Conservative Convention Officers. It was the 1st chance to get together to say thanks to Lord @amgsharpe for his inspiring leadership of the Convention over last 3 years. He steps down at the end of July.
Received literature of candidates seeking election as National Conservative Convention Chairman. As President I've been asked who I support. Voluntary Party superbly led over last 3 years by Andrew Sharpe. Continuity candidate with energy, ideas and time is Peter Booth.
Stepping down as National Convention President in July. It is a 1 year term. A huge honour, esp hosting 2020 virtual Conference. Now standing for my 3rd & final year as Vice President (previously did 2 years). Confirmed today that I have passed the level of nominations required!
Honoured to have been asked to chair a panel discussion on campaigning at today's excellent Thames Valley Conservatives Conference. Thanks to those who "came" along and asked questions. Well done team for putting the event together! Great closing message from the PM as well!
