A lot of conservative commentators and pastors attempt to carve out a safe path through the gender discourse by claiming that any bad behavior from women is ultimately a failure of male leadership

The power of this argument is that it's true, in healthy patriarchal societies the male head of the house was responsible for the behavior of his wife and daughters, but the reason is they were not considered to have full agency so the male head was granted authority over them

If a women defied her husband, society sided against her, if a daughter spurned her father she was looked down upon as disgraceful, the man had the responsibility to lead but the women had the responsibility to follow

The modern conservative solution has been to assign all the responsibility to men without granting them any authority, they are just supposed to lead without any social reinforcement or lawful authority

Men are taught that they should lead, but women are not taught that they should follow

Men are taught they're responsible for everything, even things they can't control because society stripped them of that authority, but women are told that they're never responsible for anything even when society has given them all the authority

We can see this reflected in the Lindsay Clancy case, but honestly we can see it reflected in most pulpits and conservative podcasts just as clearly

The two sexes must get along, no one should be stoking gender wars for clicks or attention, the future of our society depends on this

But it also depends on conservatives deciding what they really believe about gender diffrences

Are women the same as men from the neck up, with the same level of agency and responsibility?

Or are men and women different beyond their sex organs? Are men really responsible for the behavior of women?

We have to choose one or the other, because this idea that women are independent and capable of full agency, but also men are responsible for all bad female behavior can't survivie

Young men will just listen to the Andrew Tates of the world because you have nothing to offer them

Still pretty firmly convinced that the main thing that caused our politics to go so sideways is that social media massively shifted the political voice away from people who actually do things to lots of social misfits and weirdos, and VERY CRAZY people, basically overnight.

It is interesting that men seem to be going for a certain level of open resentment that would normally be met with pushback

I do think that's not great in the long run but I can't fault it because there's very little padding left.

There's not much modern men expect of women than to be understandable (in the vein of men) and when that is not found (despite growing up with egalitarian gender views), what else could happen?
