@e_macgregor@thegriefcast My book (42 Days) was anchored in the music that I was listening to at the time. Many years on, there are songs that feel like a direct line to my son. Others that even 19 years on, still make me cry.
Obviously, @shanewarne donating a baggy green is fantastic, but do we know how many he had? He's spent years telling us how he gave one to Kerry Packer & now this one shows up. Is this the last one? Does he have a drawer full of them? Great either way, but still interested.
@theweeflea@Peter_Fitz I didn't say that. I didn't say anything like that. I think far less name-calling would be great. We could start with stopping calling the public stupid. People are tired of being told "now sit down & listen to me, because I know best" then being presented with a 9page powerpoint
@theweeflea@Peter_Fitz There's clearly a place for critical debate, but you pick the weapon according to the battleground. People, rightly or wrongly, are tired of being called stupid & that they have to listen to our "reasoned" monologues (I'm guilty too). Sometimes just calling it bullshit is needed
@theweeflea@Peter_Fitz Of all the things that irksome little phone hacker is, he isn’t politically partisan (at least not in the UK where there is sufficient evidence to judge him). His style is more often than not, vain & boorish, but when faced with such bullshit, isn’t that approach useful for once?
@OB_one_@Peter_Fitz P***s M****n is a boorish little twat, on that we agree, but on more than one occasion he has called out Trump. He does so regularly over gun control, especially. Anyway, I feel dirty having defended him so I need a shower
@theweeflea@Peter_Fitz I don’t like Morgan either, but is that really the point? Even if you think everything else that the Morrison government does is tip top, can’t you at least see they have screwed up here? We need to move away from this overly partisan politics or nothing will ever improve
@Peter_Fitz First we all need to be convinced that our nauseating binary view of politics and whataboutery has to go. There are plenty of LNP supporters that know Scotty From Marketing has messed up, but can’t bring themselves to say it without caveat.
@GingerWildheart While we are, to quote Bill Hicks, a virus with shoes, we are also capable of great acts of kindness and achieving amazing things. Anyway, I hope you are ok x
@Independent You raise #metoo so where do you stand on the Weinstein joke at the end? Gervais was bang on with that one. And there’s the hypocrisy people are tired of.
@Independent Such sanctimonious handwringing is why we have Brexit & Trump. People are tired of being preached to by those they see as disconnected from their lives. People in fancy shoes acting like they are better than them. People do care, but are tired of being talked down to.
@Xallisto@DennisCricket_ In comparison to a shit tonne of other batsmen I can think of, yes, yes Sachin was massively overrated. Which bit are you objecting to? The bit about Anderson being vastly overrated or about Lyon being pretty ordinary?
When England talked about being competitive with South Africa I didn’t realise they were competing as to who could be the shittest batting side in test cricket #ENGvSA
@OllieHolt22@GNev2@MailSport Excellent piece, but this stuff doesn’t happen in a vacuum. We can all debate where is starts but we know it is fanned by your employer. So I’m at a loss as to how you can write such an impassioned piece at the back of the paper knowing what is written about at the front
