As James Gray’s Paper Tiger is currently in premiere at Cannes, here’s a throwback to this legendary clip. It permanently changed my perspective on the movie industry.
Domhnall Gleeson says he has “no regret” about how Hux was portrayed in THE LAST JEDI.
“I really loved what Rian did with ‘The Last Jedi,’ and I loved what he did with Hux. There’s no regret from me about what happened there. Rian went his own way, and I wanted to be in a Rian Johnson film as well as in a ‘Star Wars’ film, and I got to do that.”

I know I've said it before but truly the least interesting version of fandom is the one obsessed with data and victories. The focus on streams, review scores, box office, etc, as a way to "prove" that your favourite is better than someone else's is tedious & anti-art.
An absolute disgrace, obviously, but let's not lose sight of the fact it's definitely going to be tremendously useful to have "You cried at the umpires until they overturned a wide so you didn't lose to Japan" up our sleeves somewhere down the line.
$50k of my paycheck from The Morning Show. 2 actors. One location. First time 25 year old writer-director. Some light mentorship. A daring story none of the major film festivals would touch. Indie film is not dead yet.
Christopher Nolan calls out amateur movie critics for thinking spotting a movie trope means the film failed
"That's a fundamental flaw of film criticism in a way, or storytelling criticism, because to be able to identify the mechanism does not invalidate the mechanism."
"And that's a real problem in criticism today, because people have this idea that because I can understand why the story affects me, therefore it didn't work. That's not how storytelling works."
"When I was talking about film criticism, I was talking more about amateur film criticism than professional film criticism... because they feel they've identified the mechanism, they feel that it invalidates it."
"That could be true of certain elements, and film language evolves with that... but we do as filmmakers avail ourselves of that common language."
'Heat 2' is finally moving forward with Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale, but getting to this point was as tricky as a high-stakes heist as the sequel weathered budget battles, executive intrigue and a last-minute surprise move by David Ellison.
@DrewTailored and @elmayimbe have the exclusive inside story of how Michael Mann's $165 million crime epic was dropped by Warner Bros, picked up by Sony and Paramount and then finally rescued by Amazon MGM Studios.

Ross’s Second Year of Live Music™ is not above FOMO and so despite having seen him in Glasgow four months back, I couldn’t pass up the chance to see another awe-inspiring David Byrne gig — in Edinburgh this time. Don’t regret my decision for a second. Beautiful.
