@amuletofyendor I didn’t return to it after that post, I’d honestly sort of forgotten about it 🙂 I strongly suspect the neighbor lookup function needs to be done in assembly for it to be fast. How about you, did you give it a go?
@particlesbbs I miss, or all things, PC World magazine, which doesn’t appear to have been archived anywhere. I had a subscription for years, like 1992 to 96.
@2111brainjar @ChartreuseK Favorite book of its kind, hands down. I loved reading this every time I visited my grandparents as a kid. Hugely influential. The art is fantastic too.
Finally released: The GB Interceptor.

@K0FFY_Radio @w8lid I just fought off a bout of something, wasn’t fun but at least it was over quickly. Hope you recover as rapidly, @w8lid , I want to see your next industrial maintenance horror show! 😁
@atomicthumbs@ChartreuseK I always thought that was a clever design but it also seemed flimsy. Probably frustrating to use at anything but egregious acceleration too.
KiCad users: has anyone done single-sided board layouts intended for Manhattan construction? Thinking I can just assign possibly-inappropriate surface mount footprints, or custom ones obviously, but wondering if anyone has other tips.
@imabug@AA7EE You should check out @alangarf’s tweets, he’s built a whole transceiver up from CNC milled boards. It looks like a great method but the spindle on my mill isn’t really fast enough for the drilling, hence my focus on surface mount, or Limerick/Muppet construction.
