Today, the gasline bill passed the House of Representatives in a 34-5 vote. It now gets transmitted to the Senate, which meets Monday.

“For communities across Alaska, the Alaska LNG project represents a critical step toward long-term energy security and lower heating bills for our families,” said Minority Leader Rep. DeLena Johnson, R-Palmer. “Developing our own natural resources is the most responsible way to power our state, fuel local economies and create high-paying jobs. We have the resources right under our feet. We just need the infrastructure to deliver them."

Just now, the House Finance Committee adopted legislation that is critical to the Alaska LNG project. The vote was unanimous. Next stop: the House floor on Friday.

The Terra Energy Center project in West Susitna has been awarded approximately $89 million in federal funding, a significant vote of confidence in Alaska's energy future and the role coal can play in providing reliable, affordable power.
A diversified electric grid is critical to our economic, energy, and national security. More importantly, this announcement sends a strong message to investors that Alaska's resources matter and Alaska is ready to help meet the energy demands of the future.
