"The threat of a mass citywide public defender strike wreaking havoc on the city’s courthouses appeared to be averted on Tuesday after striking attorneys reached a deal on a new labor contract with the city’s second-largest public defender group."

Extreme heat is dangerous, but heat illness is preventable. Every employer should do everything in their power to protect their workers from extreme heat. New York City also requires employers to provide Protected Time Off for heat-related illness and prohibits retaliation against workers for requesting it. Employers should provide access to water and shade, build in more time for breaks on the hottest days, and move strenuous work to cooler hours whenever possible. These simple steps can help ensure every worker makes it home safely.

Proud to have @alaa2325’s Zachary Nowosadzki represent @UAW Region 9A at the relaunch of @notonourdimeny, a bill that our NYC CAP members endorsed in 2024 that bars NY nonprofits from funding war crimes & illegal settlements in Palestine in accordance with international law.
If we want results for the working class, we need to elect working-class members to public office. We need a fighter like Claire Valdez in Congress!
Join @ClaireForNY and @UAWRegion9A members on May 2 for a rally and canvass. Let’s show what a united working class can achieve when we stick together!

May Day is International Workers' Day.
UAW President Shawn Fain has called on the rest of the labor movement to join us in preparing to strike on May Day 2028. It’s our opportunity to create a crisis for the billionaire class to win more for all of us.
When workers align their fights to the same timeline, we have more leverage than we do alone. What if we didn’t just do that in a corporate chain or one union, but across the country and the labor movement?
Now is the time to get ready to create that May Day crisis for the bosses.

The @NYCMayor has stood with working people by vetoing Introduction 175-B. By vetoing this bill, workers are better off in New York City.
The @UAW will continue to stand with Mayor Mamdani as he fights for the affordability agenda, worker power, and our 1st Amendment rights.
¡Por primera vez, la Constitución de la @UAW está disponible en español! Este paso importante fue impulsado debido a la abogacía directa de los miles de unionados hispanohablantes de la UAW y el compromiso de la directiva de la Internacional UAW...
BREAKING: CAMBA IT Workers Union, represented by UAW @alaa2325, file multiple federal & NYC labor law charges against @CAMBAInc as their Unfair Labor Practice strike approaches five months. They’re calling on CAMBA to negotiate a fair contract. 🧵
Lisa Ohta, President of UAW Local 2325, adds: “CAMBA must resolve this dispute fairly, in line with industry standards, before City & federal authorities step in.”
