After this class I have a new perspective on disruptive technology, especially social media. Social media has the ability to connect us faster and easier than ever, but it does affect our in person actions. As a society we are more comfortable in online settings. #digitechf22b
One of my biggest takeaways from Technology and Disruptive change is how much social media can bring us together. This is something that I take for granted because I am used to it, but so much is made possible through our connections to one another. #DigiTechF22B
@DCIMDania I also believe that this will be true in the future. More big name car brands like Chevy, Volvo, and Toyota are starting their own cars that run on electric or need to be charged.
@LilyVollenbroek I agree with this prediction as well. You can see people wearing smart watches at almost any event, work, school, the gym, and even weddings. As more wearable tech becomes available, many people will jump at this opportunity.
@BuechertMelissa I agree that AI tech will take over. There are so many rival technologies already against Alexa and Ring, further proving that these are becoming inherently more common and used.
One prediction that I see about social media is that short videos will be the dominant form of media. Apps like Tik Tok and Instagram are dominating socials with these videos and people are starting to create more video content. #digitechf22b
@ru_andrew02 This is a cool topic to explore. I have learned a little about the Metaverse but I am very interested to hear about the benefits and new ideas that this can bring to our future.
@jxxkie This is a great topic! Wearable technology has taken over the tech market as well as the fashion market. I can't wait to read more about this topic from you!
@StevenKarczew This is a great topic. Social media is used by so many people everyday in many different ways. The impact it has had in our routines has contributed to many changes that have been set in the past couple of years.
For my EDTP Project I am going to dive into different platforms of social media. From Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, etc., they have all had immense impact on our daily lives. I will explore their role in our daily lives, as well as in our world. #digitechf22b
@StevenKarczew With the rapid release of news and information constantly being shared and posted, peoples minds are easily persuaded by what they see in the media. Whether the topics are about fashion, politics, or tv shows, the media has developed polarizing views in the minds of some.
@HONGJIZHANG8 So many new apps are being developed that made communication easier and more creative. Snapchat started with communication over photos and video. Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook gave people the ability to communicate to mass audiences. Now TikTok is a communication hub of info.
@NataliePresRU Harassment has grown so large through social media. Creating online profiles has given people something to hide behind to make comments and scare people. Sharing on social media has also created "haters" where jealously stems to harassment.

The way that American's receive their news is drastically different than how it used to be. Now, instead of turning on the news or reading the news paper, many people go right to social media.
