A year ago this weekend, Wire lost 42-6 at relegated Wakefield, and coach Daryl Powell was sacked midway through a run of eight consecutive defeats.

Wire have just won handsomely at Saints and Wigan in the space of seven days to go top of the league.

Thirteen tries and fifteen assists in eighteen appearances for Dufty now this season.

It’s wild that there’s so much criticism of a player posting those frankly ridiculous numbers.

@Jamie_Bate @Gaz_E SL website suggests Welsby has 11 tries and 13 assists so slightly less but regardless I think we all know Welsby is a level above most in super league

I’d love to have a player of that calibre yes but there’s very few of them around. The player we’ve got isn’t so bad imo

I guess this discussion is cyclical - there’s good points and not good points to him. My opinion is that the good outweighs the bad

@Gaz_E @Jamie_Bate Thewlis is nowhere near as quick as him though, and also ends up with a head knock half the time when he takes the ball in.

Dufty is at least hard to put down and makes yards when he takes it on 5th tackle. I think Thewlis would get battered and bruised in that situation
