It’s that time of year where I FINALLY get to announce the nominees for my personal film awards, honouring the best motion pictures of 2025
31 categories to get through! Off we go…

Maggie Gyllenhaal is jury president at the 83rd Venice Film Festival this September.
Fun fact: Tom Ford already won the Grand Jury Prize there for Nocturnal Animals.
If Adele’s film wins anything, it’ll be her first film award.

@ManFredd87 If Peter O’Toole couldn’t get a nomination in Supporting Actor for Ratatouille, it’s never happening
Eddie Murphy’s BAFTA nod for Shrek will just remain one incredible moment in time
Apple is actually giving us stellar, original shows from incredible creatives with a perspective
HBO is starting to just generate whatever IP is doing well and milking it dry
Yep, he recognises there is transphobia but just puts it in the box of ‘Polish people are transphobes’ by having ALL of Zee’s housemates be Polish men for zero reason
Any other references to transphobia is Leo to Steph but ‘he can’t talk to her about it’ so it’s just left 🤷🏼♂️
My only criticism of #Tiptoe is the elephant in the room. The drama is about the sudden rise in homophobia and transphobia. But the cause is never mentioned - the TransGender Critical movement.
@LukeCustardtv@dannjohn The final act is so shocking and difficult to watch I think people have almost forgiven the questionable writing, pacing and character choices that came before
@LukeCustardtv@dannjohn Yeah like I don’t get why we saw Zee’s transphobic housemates and why they all had to be Polish?
And Melba was like other RTD characters who in other shows are the ones that get killed off
@dannjohn@LukeCustardtv Oh yes forgot about that too. Also there could’ve been online disinformation spread by Clive about Leo and George which could’ve led to something more natural too
@dannjohn@LukeCustardtv Exactly, or swapped the ‘reveals’ so makeup on George comes first and then there’s a reveal of the messages between him and Leo which makes him FLIP thinking it’s sexual and it being a real catalyst for his violence
