Am promulgat astăzi Legea pentru prevenirea și combaterea femicidului și a violențelor care îl preced.

Violența împotriva femeilor este unul dintre cele mai înjositoare și degradante comportamente. Acest tip de agresiune a fost mult prea mult timp fie ignorată, fie insuficient abordată, cu consecințe dramatice.

De aceea, și ca un act de recunoaștere a unei realități dureroase pe care avem obligația să o îndreptăm, este extrem de necesară o lege care să stabilească pedepse aspre și să promoveze măsuri de prevenire a femicidului și a violenței domestice.

Salut inițiativa parlamentarilor care au înțeles gravitatea acestui fenomen și au realizat modificările legislative care se impun.

Această lege transformă angajamentul statului român de a garanta siguranța femeilor și copiilor într-un mecanism concret de prevenție, oferind autorităților instrumentele necesare pentru a interveni la timp, înainte ca violența să devină o tragedie.

Este un pas deosebit de important către conștientizarea cauzelor abuzurilor și violenței îndreptate împotriva femeilor, dar și către o justiție mai eficientă, mai umană, care nu doar sancționează dur agresorii, ci înțelege și previne activ suferința celor mai vulnerabili dintre noi.
