Beginning of the year is also great time to summarize the year in the Archives of Medical Science #journal (@ArchMedSci) I funded 20 years ago💪

It was indeed a record year for #AMS:
1. Based on the JCR2023 the journal is for the first time a Q1 journal ranked for IF and journal citation index.
2. in 2024 we processed 2135 papers (‼️), of which 1392 papers were rejected with only 218 papers accepted (#rejectionrate: 86.46%; for research papers we accept only 1/10 submission and for review ones
less than 1/4).
3. In 2024 five of the most popular scientific areas of submitted papers were: public health, molecular biology, oncology, neurology and immunology.
4. The most cited 2024 paper is: "Recommendations of the Experts of the Polish Cardiac Society (PCS) and the Polish Lipid Association (PoLA) on the diagnosis and management of elevated lipoprotein(a) levels" (https://t.co/jYIQRaGmhh)

Another important paper from our group still in 2024: Position paper of the Polish Lipid Association @PoLACongress on the #Prevention Opportunities of #Retinopathy in Diabetic #Patients, has just been released in the @ArchMedSci ‼️💪

We live in time of large #epidemics of #obesity (30% people of Poland) and #diabetes (10% of people of Poland with the prediction of being doubled in next 2 decades). Thus we should look for the solutions not only effective with the fighting against the risk factors but also their complications - including diabetic retinopathy‼️

Based on the available data (including the most recent from the #LENS #trial) we recommend extension of the indications for #fenofibrate application in patients with retinopathy to prevent complications, including eye surgery and #visionloss (secondary prevention, IB), but also in primary #prevention of retinopathy (IIb B). This may significantly improve the quality of life of many patients with diabetes (retinopathy is found in up to 30-40% of T2DM patients).

We observed higher miRNA-27a/b expression in FH than in healthy individuals. #HoFH vs #HeFH had higher miRNA-27a/b level, which indicates it as a candidate marker for the disease severity.
