These are the Soviet motherhood medals that were awarded to women who had 5+ children. The gold one is to symbolize 5 children. The middle silver one symbolizes 6 children. The last and larger silver medal symbolize 7 children. #USSR#SovietHistory
For anyone interested in Soviet medical history, Uni of Leeds is hiring 2 post docs to work with my old supervisor Dr. Robert Hornsby (who is delightful!)

It’s impossible to watch this without tears. The EU Parliament delegation, currently visiting Georgia, met with protesters at Rustaveli Avenue in central Tbilisi, where people have been demonstrating for over two weeks. Despite enduring inhumane treatment, unlawful arrests, abductions, physical violence from government-linked thugs, and brutal dispersals including the use of tear gas, pepper spray, and water cannons, the Georgian people persist in unity, demanding the country’s return to the EU path, refusing to fall into russia’s sphere of influence.
The MEPs were warmly welcomed by protesters, who sang the EU anthem and chanted "Sanctions!" upon their arrival, underscoring that this is the only language Ivanishvili Inc. understands.
Thank you, dear friends of Georgia, for standing with us—your physical presence means the world.

letter from 🇬🇪 civil society reps to 🇪🇺 foreign policy chief Kallas asking her to allow them to address the EU foreign affairs council in Brussels on 16 Dec + impose sanctions, suspend visa lib for diplomatic passport & ask to re-run the Oct elections
quite weak draft 🇪🇺 summit conclusions on 🇬🇪. "regrets" decision to suspend EU accession process & "strongly condemns the violence against peaceful protesters. The 🇬🇪 authorities must respect the right to freedom of assembly & of expression, and refrain from using force."
Hello, I have a friend whose young teenager is getting into the Russian Revolution/ early Soviet society. Any suggestions for something academic-ish and engaging?
I have finally started #ColdKitchen by @edentravels. It was easy to lose myself in the wonderfully written reminiscing and memories of travelling to some of my favourite places in the world (paired with delicious looking recipes) while drinking Georgian amber wine. A must read!
Just a quick sneak preview of my chapter in this amazing edited volume that utilises an illegal abortion trial in Tbilisi, Georgia to look at wider reproductive and surveillance policies!
Final tweet: my loving husband @RalphTorta gave me a scarf with my upcoming publication printed onto it! Can't wait to get some weird looks if people try to read it 😅
