Wore Blue and Gold last night to remember a true @emoryhenry1836 legend. Curt Newsome coached @EmoryHenry_FB from 2014-2024. My freshman year in 2015 I jumped right into sports reporting on campus and @CoachNewsome_ was always fine with me stopping by practice or grabbing him for an interview. That same friendship continued during my time working @news5wcyb, whenever I needed an interview I could always call coach and he was always more than happy to do one. It’s something I admired about him, no matter if you were one of his players, or just another student on campus, he always treated everyone with respect. Praying for the Newsome family during this difficult time!

Saddened to learn of the passing of Curt Newsome - one of the more respected football coaches in the Commonwealth of Virginia - at the age of 67.

Newsome was Head Coach for 10 seasons at his alma mater, Emory & Henry. He also served as an assistant at James Madison and Virginia Tech.

At the prep level, Newsome guided Kecoughtan HS to six playoff wins, including a trip to the State Championship game in 1997.
