Its time to bring the youth voices in shaping the narratives around our food and agriculture. Pan African discussions must revolve around Afrofuturistic narratives such as agroecology. In addressing tripple planetary crisis, agriculture must be beautiful.

Introducing the first Thousand African Youth Summit on Food Systems and Agroecology
Simon Bukenya, @simonpbukenya Program Officer and Youth Platform Secretariat Coordinator, sat down with AFSA Communications to explain the upcoming The first Thousand African Youth Summit on Food Systems and Agroecology, a groundbreaking event aimed at uniting African youth to shape the future of the continent’s #foodsystems.
In this interview, Simon outlines the three-day program, the summit’s key themes, and the core messages expected to emerge. He provides insights into how the summit will empower #youth to take action, driving agroecological solutions that ensure healthy, sustainable food systems across #Africa.
Simon also delivers a compelling call to #AfricanYouth, emphasizing their role as the custodians of Africa’s food systems, a responsibility passed down by our ancestors who kept the diversity and transferred traditional ecological knowledge down to us. He highlights the importance of preserving our #seeds, promoting our #Africanfoods, and amplifying the voices of smallholder farmers. He said this Pan-African Youth Summit is a chance to join the African #agroecology and #foodsovereignty movements and contribute to building resilient and sustainable food systems across Africa.
