School of Psychology faculty @FieldingGradU. My research is primarily related to media effects (video games), mixed reality, aggression, and climate change.
Dr. Anderson and I have a new piece in Advances in Environmental Engineering! Read it here: https://t.co/BoOTI0zAkA
In this manuscript, we call for scientists to begin coming together across disciplines in order to solve the #ClimateCrisis
Most of our policies are still centered keeping us under 1.5 but were NEVER going to accomplish that
We’ve already blown by this goal and there is seemingly no dialogue and sense of direction from corporations and governments

@JkayFlake Journals are regressing - we literally have to pay them to allow for open-access documents.
That’s how you know this whole thing is built on a labor-scam.
We should be figuring out how to EXPAND psych education, not passing politically-fueled bans on it.
However, we as psychologists must be doing something right if the seats of power find our knowledge and practice threatening.
How have perception psychologists integrated the newest findings in quantum mechanics into the discipline? Would love to know more if anyone can point me in the right direction! https://t.co/DzRuoypZXY
It’s not to say that they aren’t “good.”
They are, and car companies should cease to make ICE’s. But the idea that the most effective mode of transit is personal vehicles is problematic. It is ableist, classist, and downright destructive.
Spoiler alert: electric cars are not the answer.
Pretending like they are the most efficient, effective, and attainable solution is ignoring the very factors that created this crisis to begin with.
We need to re-imagine society and how it interacts with the planet.
Want to learn more about the holistic consequences of the climate crisis but don’t want to read boring academic papers? Start with these documentaries.

@bmwiernik The issue is with capitalistic journal publishing. We need to get science out of the hands of corporate conglomerates who just use it to get their massive taxpayer-funded checks from public universities and libraries.
@bmwiernik Peer-review as a construct is great. But in practice, it’s just another way the journals exploit the labor of scientists. These journals have some of the biggest profit margins in the world, simply because they take free labor and profit off of all of it.
Had a reviewer tell me that “that may be common practice in psychology, but not in science/engineering.”
The “psychology isn’t science” heuristic really needed to die in the 1970s. And there’s absolutely no reason for that stigma to persist in the 2020’s.

Psychologists need to be better at communicating that implicit bias is not an “accident.”
Bias it a learned behavior. So it must be taught. The person exhibiting bias may be doing so “unconsciously,” but they learned about that bias from somewhere.
