No better way to start off a week than with a great @BrighamMedRes Med-Derm morning report, especially with @AMostaghimi! (will have to remember my bow tie for next time…)
Today, our fearless leader @AMostaghimi provided testimony to the MA legislature on a bill to provide scalp prosthesis (wig) coverage for patients with alopecia areata. Thank you for advocating for your patients and sharing your expertise on this issue, Arash! 🤩
The goal of research is to impact patient care. Was an honor to return to the MA statehouse today to testify in support of expanding coverage for cranial prosthetics (wigs) to patients with #alopeciaareata. Thank you to @NAAF_org for supporting the research we presented today.

Ultimately, the majority of patients with AA are healthy & elevated risk is in context of low absolute rates. Will treatment of AA help reduce comorbidity formation? Maybe-but given uncertainty I wouldn't make decisions on meds for any benefit other than goals for hair growth.
Excited to share this systematic review examining comorbidities associated with #alopeciaareta, led by @Sophia_Ly_MD2b. This was a real group effort w/support from so many I had to tag them in the photo https://t.co/vsKT44ieIS. Click on link for full article, highlights below🧵
This study confirmed elevated risk of #vitiligo, #lupus, and #thyroiditis while providing some nuance to cardiovascular and diabetes risk. Too many findings to list here, but take a look at the figures!
Loved every part of this @topicalpod podcast except for when 1) @KristinaLiuMD talked about how much better @DanielButlerMD's hairline is than mine and 2) when I was reminded how much I miss getting the chance to see Dan in person on the regular. Hope you learn as much as I did!
By God that's @DanielButlerMD's music! Join @AMostaghimi and @KristinaLiuMD in a conversation with the Dean himself about research, finding balance, and getting to the "why" of our careers in the latest Topical podcast https://t.co/EeasggEs3D
