All in all, here's what we know about Health Canada's reckless and irresponsible approval of the Moderna XBB.1.5 vaccine:

The vaccine is already outdated.

Moderna conducted the only trial on this vaccine, which did not include a placebo arm and lasted only 20 days.
Health Canada reviewed the data from Moderna. That is the extent of their involvement.

Health Canada is recommending the vaccine for children, but the trial did not include anybody under the age of 21.
As such, there is no reasonable way to claim that the product is safe for children. Myocarditis rates stemming from COVID-19 vaccination run highest in teenagers. It would seem imprudent at best and negligent at worst to recommend this to teenagers without testing.

Health Canada has recommended that children aged six months to four years, who were previously unvaccinated, receive a two-dose series. However, no clinical trials have been done on children, let alone on children receiving two doses.

Trial participants were not deliberately exposed to COVID-19.
They simply had their antibody levels measured 15 days following their shot. As has been widely established, antibody levels are not a satisfactory predictor of an immune response to SARS-COV-2 infection.

In the trial, only 50 people were injected with the new vaccine.
That is not nearly a large enough sample to glean any safety data from.

Health Canada says safety data was "inferred" from previous Moderna offerings, but COVID-19 vaccines from Moderna have a very high rate of adverse events. Their 3 COVID-19 vaccine offerings have an average reporting rate of 1 in every 500. This is 3 times higher than the highest reporting rate in a conventional (non-mrna) vaccine product in Ontario.

The vaccine was not tested for efficacy against other variants.
Incidentally, they discovered some antibodies against four other outdated Omicron subvariants. As there was no placebo arm to the trial, they cannot know if these antibodies stem from their vaccine or were naturally present in the subjects.
