Last August, in partnership with the Dangote Group, we made significant progress by signing a landmark shareholders’ agreement for a fertilizer plant with a planned annual production capacity of 3 million metric tons of urea. In October 2025, we officially launched construction of the project.
This initiative represents far more than infrastructure. It is a strategic investment in Ethiopia’s agricultural transformation, food security, industrial growth, and economic self-reliance. Once completed, the fertilizer plant will play a vital role in strengthening local production capacity, reducing dependence on imports, supporting millions of farmers, and creating new opportunities for jobs and investment.
This morning, together with @AlikoDangote, I visited the project site in Gode to assess the progress achieved so far. I am encouraged by the steady momentum across the project area. Construction activities are advancing as planned across multiple sections of the site, reflecting the strong commitment and collaboration driving this important national project forward.
Dangote Gets Hero’s Welcome in Ethiopia, Raises Investment to $4bn
President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, received a warm welcome in Gode, Ethiopia, where he was hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
Both leaders visited the site of the proposed fertiliser plant to assess ongoing construction. Ethiopia had signed a shareholders’ agreement with Dangote Group in August last year to establish a urea plant with a capacity of three million metric tonnes annually.
Dangote announced an increase in investment from $2.5 billion to over $4 billion, reflecting expanded scope, including a 110km pipeline, a 120MW power plant, a polypropylene packaging facility, and a two-million-tonne NPK blending plant.
Prime Minister Abiy described the project as a strategic initiative to boost agriculture, enhance food security, and reduce import dependence. He noted steady construction progress and expressed confidence in its impact on farmers, job creation, and economic growth.
The project reinforces Dangote Group’s commitment to industrial development across Africa.
Vice President @KashimSM has arrived in Frankfurt, Germany, to commence engagement with authorities on issues of importance to Nigeria’s development.
The Vice President, accompanied by top officials, will return to Abuja at the end of his engagements.
Happy Birthday Your Excellency.
Today we celebrate not only the gift of your life but also the rare example of leadership you embody. You have shown us that power is best worn with humility, that true strength lies in resilience, and that service to people is the highest calling. To me you are more than a boss, you are a father and a constant source of guidance.
May Allah continue to bless you with health, wisdom and fulfilment, and may the years ahead be even more impactful for our nation and for humanity, ameen.
It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of His Excellency, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), GCFR, my predecessor, who departed this life today, Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a hospital in the United Kingdom.
President Buhari was to the very core, a patriot, a soldier, a statesman. His legacy of service and sacrifice endures. He served Nigeria with unwavering dedication, first as a military leader from January 1984 to August 1985, and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023. Duty, honour, and a deep commitment to the unity and progress of our nation defined his life.
He stood firm through the most turbulent times, leading with quiet strength, profound integrity, and an unshakable belief in Nigeria’s potential. He championed discipline in public service, confronted corruption head-on, and placed the country above personal interest at every turn.
In this moment of national mourning, I extend my deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Aisha, with whom I have been in constant touch, his children, the entire Buhari family, and all who knew and loved him.
I also extend my condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, most especially the people and traditional leaders of Daura Emirate.
We honour his service. We reflect on his legacy. And we pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.
As a mark of respect to our former leader, I have directed that all national flags fly at half-staff across the country for seven days from today.
I have also summoned an emergency Federal Executive Council session on Tuesday, dedicated to his honour.
The Federal Government will accord President Buhari full state honours befitting his towering contributions to our country.
May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
And may his life continue to inspire generations of Nigerians to serve with courage, conviction, and selflessness.

STATE HOUSE PRESS STATEMENT
PRESIDENT TINUBU ASSURES OF GREATER ECONOMIC OUTPUT, WELCOMES THIRD QUARTER GDP GROWTH FIGURE
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians of better economic output as the economy continues to expand following the newly released third quarter Gross Domestic Product report by the National Bureau of Statistics.
According to the NBS, Nigeria's GDP grew by 3.46%, compared to the 3.19% growth recorded in the second quarter.
The growth in GDP shows that President Tinubu's quest for a more robust boost in the economy and, by extension, a better standard of living for all Nigerians is on course.
The 3.46% growth indicates Nigeria is recovering from the reforms' unintended effects.
President Tinubu said his administration has not and will never forget his promise of a $1 trillion economy by 2030. He assured that once the economy is rebased by early 2025 to capture its dynamism and record significant changes that have occurred in different sectors, the country will be on its way to shared prosperity.
The latest GDP growth in the third quarter is driven by key sectors such as Agriculture, Transport, Education, Health, Real Estate, Finance and Insurance, ICT, Trade, and Manufacturing.
This performance once again shows that the reforms embarked upon by the Tinubu administration to reposition the economy and ensure better fiscal management are beginning to yield fruits.
The proposed tax reforms also indicate the administration's resolve to reduce the tax burden on small businesses and spread prosperity to the poor. The new Tax regime seeks to promote equity by reducing what is known as the headquarters effect—a situation where states where company headquarters are based get more benefits because their taxes for the whole nation are remitted—in favour of spatial and demographic equity.
President Tinubu said, "I am excited by the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics that our economy grew in the third quarter more than last quarter and even beyond projected estimates. While I welcome this development, the latest figure also shows the much work that needs to be done. We won't rest until Nigerians feel the positive impacts in their pockets and experience a better living standard. My administration remains committed to the welfare of our people."
The top contributing sectors to GDP in Q3 2024 are Agriculture 28.65%, ICT 16.35%, Trade 14.78%, Manufacturing 8.21%, Crude Oil 5.57%, Finance & Insurance 5.51% and Real Estate 5.43%.
