Our aims are to raise issues affecting people with Down syndrome, promote equality, campaign for equal access & highlight the innate worth of people with DS.
Wonderful seeing Portsmouth DSA’s Lizzie on @itvnews! 🌟A successful apprenticeship proving that people with Down syndrome & LD can thrive in the workplace benefiting the whole community. Well done, Lizzie!
It's been FOUR years since parliament passed the Down Syndrome Act, backed by the government and all mainstream parties.
But it has STILL not been implemented
The law is so vital for the 50,000 people in the UK with Down Syndrome:

We’re thrilled to announce that the draft Guidance for the Down Syndrome Act has officially been published!
This is an important step forward for our community. The consultation runs until 28th January 2026, and we’ll soon share how you can take part and make a difference.
“The Bill presumes the best instead of legislating for the worst.” When we already know that disabled people face serious healthcare inequalities, overlooking these real risks would leave vulnerable people even more exposed under an #AssistedDyingBill.”
Full agenda at today’s @APPGDS AGM. Discussions incl. safeguarding concerns in #AssistedDyingBill, Post-16 transport loophole & updates on DS Act Guidance. Great to welcome NDSPG Advisory Group members from across UK to share their reports & insights. @LeeBarronMP@S_A_Russell
A packed agenda incl. delays & ongoing issues with the #DownSyndromeAct guidance, the #AssistedDyingBill, & reported changes to EHCP eligibility. Thanks to Cambridge Uni @CIDDRG for their Alzheimer’s presentation & @garrettflo for sharing the Advisory Group ICB challenge results.
“As co-chair, it is a privilege to pick up on Sir Liam’s work; the next critical phase needs to be the publication of supporting guidance for the #DownSyndromeAct.” @DamianHinds
