It was great to visit Babcock recently at their Rosyth site.

Fantastic to see Type 31 frigates HMS Venturer and HMS Active under construction, as well as the specialist work being done for Dreadnought and Columbia class submarines.

I welcome the announcement today that the Shipbuilding Credit Guarantee Scheme is being launched.

This was an important part of the National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh last year and a key ask of industry, as recently highlighted by @APPGShipbuilding.

The National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh was needed and welcome, particularly the 30-year pipeline.

However, over a year since it was launched, the Government still needs to give UK industry more clarity and certainty, and key challenges remain unaddressed.

🚢 Ensuring the cross-gov shipbuilding pipeline maximises opportunities for UK shipbuilding.

🇬🇧 Raising the threshold for UK content in new builds.

Members of the APPG today joined a meeting of the Scottish Parliament’s Maritime CPG to discuss the National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh one year on.

Members heard from @SocMaritimeInd and other industry partners on key issues including technology and skills.
