Hawai‘i construction kicked off 2026 strong — $2.09 BILLION in Q1, the 2nd-highest first quarter in the past decade! 🚧
But housing activity dropped sharply: single-family - $126M and multi-family - $229M vs Q1 2025. PRP’s Nathaniel Kinney: “Hawai‘i needs more than 64,000 housing units… lawmakers must ease the regulatory burden and commit to building homes.”

🇺🇸 Medal of Honor Monday 🇺🇸
On June 9, 1944—just three days after D-Day—Army Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper made the ultimate sacrifice in France.
Standing 6’7” tall, the 22-year-old paratrooper from Grand Island, New York, served with Company C, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.
After his glider crash-landed near Sainte-Mère-Église, his platoon was pinned down and cut off at La Fière while trying to secure a bridgehead across the Merderet River.
When a vastly superior German force launched a flanking attack, DeGlopper volunteered to draw their fire. He stepped out into the open road in full view of the enemy and laid down suppressive fire with his automatic rifle so his comrades could withdraw to better positions.
Wounded twice, he continued fighting—kneeling in the roadway, firing burst after burst—until he was killed. His heroic stand allowed his platoon to reposition, secure the bridgehead, and ultimately succeed in their mission. The ground around his position was later found littered with dead Germans and abandoned weapons.
For his extraordinary courage and selflessness, Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
His legacy lives on: a ship, training center, road, and air assault school bear his name. In 2024, his hometown dedicated DeGlopper Memorial Park in his honor.
Today we remember this giant of a man—both in stature and spirit—who gave everything for his brothers in arms.
