@Jas_Athwal@RedbridgeLive At least three of the five bullet points have yet to be delivered. They may be planned projects but they are not delivered. Redbridge is asset stripping the borough to fix the hole in their budget each year. The sale of Ley street car park being a recent example
@yrubswed@Jas_Athwal@RedbridgeLive The landlord tax scheme has no credibility. All it has done is to increase rents, meanwhile dodgy landlord won’t bother getting a license or simply ignore the rules.
@KamRai7@mercatometropol@MayorofLondon@LondonAssembly Just a casual five years latter than planned, and total silence in the interim. Better late than never but had it been delivered on time it would have been pre pandemic, and inflation would not of been an issue.
@KamRai7 -Redbridge council tax up 6%
-Redbridge landlord tax pushing up rents
-Redbridge council supporting ULEZ
-Highest council deficit in London
But they think we should be happy that they will still collect the bins once a week
@LondonLive@KamRai7@htamedia@RedbridgeLive If only Redbridge council could fix the hole in their budget. Lots of land and buildings getting sold off, so maybe asset stripping the borough is the quick fix.
@KamRai7@neilshahuk kam, what happened to the car park on Chadwick road ilford. The council replaced the car park (which was generating revenue) with a half built shed. How much has this cost the council in lost revenue over the past 4 years? Plus the he knock on impact on local businesses…
@Jas_Athwal@RedbridgeLive@redbridgelabour@IlfordSouthCLP Can the old bodgers arcade be closed off/boarded up? Since bodgers closed its main uses include a toilet, somewhere for taking/selling drugs, and a bin/dumping ground.
Hi Jas, any update on the project? I havent seen the council distance themselves this much from a project since the Redbridge reading challenge at local libraries
@Jas_Athwal nearly two years after you personally “opened” Mercato Ilford, it’s little more than a half built shed. Be great if you could provide an update. @RedbridgeLive@IlfordRecorder. It certainly hasn’t created the buzz you refer to in your opening speech!
The Leader of Redbridge Council Jas Athwal, opens Mercato Ilford. Mercato Metropolitano is an outdoor sustainable community market place offering food and beverages. The soft launch was held on Thursday,25th November.

@Jas_Athwal Could you update residents on Jas’s vision for the Mercato in Ilford? I see an eyesore, a project that’s 4 years late, 4 years of lost parking revenues and facilities, and zero accountability from yourself or the council. @RedbridgeLive@IlfordRecorder
@RedbridgeLive Hi @RedbridgeLive is the Mercato still opening in Ilford or has it been cancelled? Updates have been few and far between since it ls planned opening in 2019!
