Main accused in the Jamui molestation case, Nandan Yadav , who was seen in a red gamcha, has reportedly been caught and shot in an encounter. More details awaited. Three of the arrested accused are said to be minor, while the remaining three are adults.

The question should not be: why don’t couples choose a safer place?

It may sound harsh, but in a way, Jamui reflects a large part of our society. Put a helpless, defenceless couple in a similar situation, and far too many perverts living among us would behave the same way.

Nirbhaya and the many similar crimes since then are not merely isolated incidents. They tell us something about the society that we have created.

And we all know this is not about this government or that government. It is about our society. It is about us.

Nirbhaya was not the first. Jamui will not be the last. That’s the unfortunate reality.

The video from Jamui, Bihar is deeply disturbing.

Two Class 10 students were stopped on a road. Harassed. Humiliated. Molested. A young girl, hands folded, begged to be let go while goons groped her and dragged her away.

Who gave these men the right to behave like this? This is not "culture." It is patriarchy: the belief that any man can police a girl's body, her movement, her choices.

When control is mistaken for culture, and such attitudes are normalised by Andhbhakts, mobs start believing they are the law.

Every individual in that video must be identified and prosecuted under POCSO, and justice must be swift. And if the incident happened on September 19th, why are the culprits not behind bars yet?

And the Bihar government must answer why a girl is not safe on a public road at 7 pm?

10वीं क्लास के एक छात्र और छात्रा को रास्ते में जबरदस्ती रोक लिया गया। उन्हें प्रताड़ित किया गया, अपमानित किया गया और छात्रा के साथ उत्पीड़न किया गया। बच्ची हाथ जोड़कर उसे जाने देने की विनती करती रही, मगर गुंडे उसे गलत तरीके से छूते और खींचतान करते रहे।

इन लोगों को ऐसी बदतमीज़ी करने का हक किसने दिया? यह "संस्कृति" नहीं है, यह patriarchy है: ये सोच कि किसी भी पुरुष का किसी लड़की के शरीर, उसके आने-जाने और उसकी पसंद-नापसंद पर नियंत्रण है।

जब नियंत्रण को ही संस्कृति मान कर 'अंधभक्त' ऐसी सोच को सामान्य ठहराते हैं, तो भीड़ को लगने लगता है कि वही कानून है।

उस वीडियो में दिख रहे हर व्यक्ति की पहचान होनी चाहिए और उन अपराधियों पर POCSO के तहत मुकदमा चलाकर उन्हें जल्द से जल्द सजा मिलनी चाहिए। और अगर ये घटना 19 सितंबर की है तो गुनहगार अब तक सलाखों के पीछे क्यों नहीं हैं?

और बिहार सरकार जवाब दे कि शाम 7 बजे कोई लड़की राज्य की सड़कों पर सुरक्षित क्यों नहीं है?

After the US and Israel failed to meet any of their objectives during the 40-day war, Israel took a backseat, while trump followed a 'mow the lawn' strategy with occasional strikes, combined with seige warfare, keeping the military and economic pressure on Tehran. This was either because of Israel's operational difficulties or the US feared it would not be able to control the pace of escalation if Israel was directly involved. The conflict continued with strikes and counterstrkes between the US and Iran, while Israel stood on the margines. Then in July, around Khamenei's funeral, the Houthis sought to push the envelope further. The Saudis walked straight into the trap. And then a war within the war broke out, which is still continuing.

The U.S. hasn' struck Iran after the last Iranian attack on the US bases in Jordan. Iran hasn't initiated any new attack either, but the Houthi capture of Bab el Mandeb and strikes on Saudi Arabia have kept crude price high and economic pressure on trump soaring. Try to capture the picture. Israel got the war machine rolling from April 8 even when it stayed out. Now Iran gets the war machine rolling even when it doesn't carry out strikes against US--and they have issued new terms for talks. This has put both trump and netanyahu in a spot. Not doing anything is not a solution. The conflict is deepening even if there are no US and Israeli strikes. They have to either escalate or engage.
