Happy New Year from the Arkansas Senate Democratic Caucus! With a new year here and the 2025 Regular Session right around the corner, we recommit to putting Arkansans and their needs first—for a better, brighter, bolder Arkansas.
Please stay clear of this area so that emergency personnel can respond appropriately.

An emergency shelter has been established at the North Little Rock Community Center for those affected by today's storm. Storm victims may also bring their pets. The Community Center is located at 2700 Willow Street.

Here at the Capitol I just signed an executive order declaring that a State of Emergency exists in the State of Arkansas due to today’s severe weather. We will spare no resource to assist with response and recovery efforts for Arkansans impacted.
They came to the Capitol from Wynne & Bentonville & Harmony Grove & Norfork & Farmington & Ozark & Fayetteville & Bryant & Cabot & all across Arkansas to speak up for their kids & their profession.
Teachers, y’all. ❤️

There’s bipartisan opposition to the LEARNS Act on the whole, and bipartisan support for many of its components—which is why lawmakers should’ve been allowed to vote on its components separately. #arpx
I serve on the Senate Ag committee. When I finished speaking at this morning’s Farm Bureau breakfast here in Washington County—the number two county in agricultural production in Arkansas—the first question I got from a room full of farmers?
Concerns about LEARNS.

#SB294 is being sold as a means for parents and students to pick their schools, but private schools will pick which students they’ll accept and keep.
If a student struggles, their private school can drop them.

And the “every kid will have access” bit?
Every kid will have access to public schools, just as they do now, but private schools’ll select which kids they want—and will kick kids out if they struggle.
Private schools—which’ll get public dollars—will pick their students.

The RAISE Act, the Democratic proposal to raise our state’s minimum teacher pay to $50,000—which we filed two weeks ago today—was assigned to the Special Language Subcommittee at this morning’s Joint Budget Committee meeting. #arleg#arpx
Proud of our House colleague Representative Ashley Hudson (@ashleyforAR) of West Little Rock. She’s set to respond to our governor’s response to President Biden’s State of the Union address next Tuesday. #arpx
