Spent three hours last night rewriting the same scene because the fairy tale logic kept colliding with the physics of the starship. My kids walked in, saw the scowl, and asked if the spaceship was broken again. Yes it was. Anyone else have a world that fights back this hard?

Most “family-friendly” companies are not family-friendly.

They will sell you the aesthetic of kids, faith, and hometown values right up until those things become inconvenient.

Then they lecture the same customers who kept them alive.

Loyalty is not a brand strategy.

It’s a one-way street they only notice when it disappears.

The hardest part of writing a fairy tale that also has a starship is not the magic system.

It’s keeping the wonder intact after the characters learn how the universe actually works.

One more equation and the story starts feeling like a manual.

One more prophecy and it starts feeling like it never left the nursery.

I’m trying to write the space in between.

Anyone else chasing that exact line?

I don��t want my kids to grow up thinking the hero only wins if he becomes as ruthless as the villain.

I’m writing a sci-fi fantasy where the fairy tale still has rules — kindness costs something, courage isn’t a branding exercise, and the starship doesn’t get to sneer at wonder.

Call it old-fashioned. Fine.

I miss books that made me want to be better when I closed them.

Halal food means the animal has to be healthy, and the animal product has to be free from pork fat, blood and alcohol.

The cheese making process is just naturally halal unless you’re using unhealthy cows or goats.

Do you want blood in your cheese or diseased cows making the milk?

Bud Light misunderstood their customer base and insulted their customer base in an attempt to gain a wider audience.

Tillamook has always been naturally “halal” and has decided to put a label on their products to let ANOTHER demographic know that Tillamook is a great option. They have not insulted their customer base to do so.

Nothing about the story, whether true or untrue, has anything to do with Christ’s time on Earth. If anything it affirms Hebrew history which eventually evolved into the Christianity we know today

One thing we should all agree on is that there was a global flood of some sort. This is something most ancient cultures wrote about. From the Americas to Africa to Europe and even Asia. A global flood shouldn’t be disputed.

Moses is the guy who wrote about Noah, and he lived many, many generations after the event happened.

Moses’s goal for genesis was to “correct the record.” He was writing to his people who have heard these stories which became legend over time.

“You know Creation? And the fall of mankind? And the Flood? Yeah actually that’s not this god or that god-king. It was actually the Supreme Creator and this Supreme Creator did it for these reasons and unfortunately He chose us to bear the burden of suffering, hardship, worship and trials for the purpose of His Glory and to be the spearhead in a spiritual war for the purpose of saving all mankind.”

And then he drove that point home with the next four books.

“Us being chosen doesn’t mean we get special privileges or are better than the rest of humanity, here are thousands of laws we need to follow while we watch the rest of humanity have fun and live in sin”

I'm writing a science fiction/fantasy series where I try to strike the same awe and wonder that Tolkien, Lewis and Rowling instilled into me as a kid. I miss virtuous heroes and am sick of morally gray villains. We need more fantasy with good messages and I aim to write and bring that back

Piggy backing off this post: As a fan of countless fantasy franchises, if I'm going to spend money to see an adaptation of a franchise I like, the adaptation better be faithful.

Politics and religion aside, so many modern fantasy and adaptations of fantasy just aren't good. The writing, the acting, the dialogue just lack a certain magic that used to be captured up until the early 2000's.

Eragon, Witcher, Rings of Power, Chronicles of Narnia, Halo, Star Wars and even Game of Thrones to a certain extent have all been genuinely terrible because they aren't made by fans of the franchise that's being adapted.

Corruption comes in small doses.

It’s the reason why some people were thrilled when Gandalf (a Christ-like figure) was played by a gay actor.

It’s the reason why Aowyn was portrayed as a girl boss and her famous line has now become infamous instead.

It’s the reason why Sinon (originally rumored to be Achilles) was played by a white actress and “white-armed Helen” (as Homer called her) was played by a black one.

And now, it’s the reason why Lewis’ seminal work is being remade as a “rock-inspired fantasy” and Aslan (another Christ-like figure, gee, what a coincidence) is being voiced by a woman.

Corruption happens slowly, then it happens all at once…but it begins in small doses.
