Representing the senior operational leaders in Scottish policing in partnership with fellow staff associations. ASPS is celebrating its centenary in 2024.
@hall_sloan@HumzaYousaf@ShaheenScotland It was my honour to pipe for a man who has spent his entire working life dedicated to public service. Any idea where the chanter originated from?
‘Appalling’ letter sent by the Perm. Sec at the Justice Dept. to @ChiefConPSNI appears to have been a ‘high-handed attempt to gag, embarrass snd chastise’ him. Our news release is here:

There are still far too many collisions involving motorcycles on our roads. Please
🚗🏍 take care AT & APPROACHING junctions
🚗🚚 look for motorcycles before manoeuvring
🏍🚗 only overtake when it is safe to do so & you are SURE you can complete the manoeuvre safely #ThinkBike
David Threadgold, SPF chair: “The COPFS is understaffed, overworked, inefficient in its administration, it communicates badly with partners and makes decisions which adversely impact on police officers and their families” https://t.co/SL4OJ2Sqcs
@CopMoustache You could probably toss the big bottle of Midori Blue for this trip; it’s not that cold up here yet! And if there’s a sudden cold snap, there’s always a dram to warm your cockles. 🥃
Officers from the #NationalMotorcycleUnit will be continuing to focus on our Motorcycle Safety campaign this weekend. We will be engaging with both riders & drivers across the country in our efforts to reduce motorcycling casualties. #ThinkBike and drive/ride safe
SPA Chair @MartynR_Evans confirming to #SPABoard that his term in office comes ends on 31 January 2025, and he has confirmed to the Cabinet Secretary for @ScotGovJustice that he will complete this term as planned but will not accept the offer of a reappointment.
Watching the nightly Merseyside Detectives (Murder of Ashley and Olivia). This is the reality of UK policing; hard graft with results ground out by diligence and effort, with final success mostly dependent upon community support and courage.
Last week saw the launch of Rider Refinement East which took place at #Glenrothes in partnership with @IAMRoadSmart . We have been overwhelmed with emails about future courses so please bare with us as we work our way through them. Thank you for your patience

Our team has been working hard in August to help @LocateCIO reach their goals in the #ForThe13000 campaign.
11 of our colleagues are giving it their all for the cause. Highlights include our CEO, Steve Rick, who has walked 178 km so far this month (with his pal Effie in tow🐶), and our Development Manager, Ruth Bauwens, who is working towards her goal of cycling 75 miles.

Another great result for the Police Helicopter! Great teamwork between the crew and @PSOSRoads led to the arrest of 2 persons following a lengthy car chase beginning in Edinburgh City Centre and ending in North Lanarkshire. #KeepingPeopleSafe
@MrDerekFrew @ShaheenScotland@PoliceScotland Shaheen is simply a righteous dude in every aspect who will be greatly missed by the Service, his colleagues and our communities. Semper Vigilo my friend. 🫡👏🏼
Incredibly brave actions by my colleagues involved in dealing with this very dangerous incident. So much potential for it going horribly wrong, especially in the early stages when the suspect, armed with a loaded crossbow, was being challenged by unarmed colleagues.
It's a refreshing change for @policeconduct to have dealt with this matter in a reasonably prompt manner.
It's also refreshing to be able to thank the IOPC's Regional Director - Mel Palmer for her positive and supportive comments:
“However, the actions of all officers involved in this incident, and the decision to use of lethal force, were in our opinion, justified, proportionate and necessary.
“I would particularly like to highlight the bravery demonstrated by all of the officers who attended, including the two local response officers who entered the property first, knowing an armed man was still inside.
“They took decisive action to confront Mr Hodgson, at considerable risk to their own lives, only withdrawing when instructed.
“Despite being threatened with a weapon, they maintained their professionalism and demonstrated their commitment to keeping the public safe even when their own safety was at risk.”

Feeling : nearly broken 🧵 (a rant really)
I read before that the burnout rate for a paramedic is around 5 years. I'm at 4 and a half years service and honestly have never felt closer to burnout!
