🚨| FIA President Sets Deadline for F1 Engine Overhaul:

— Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA president, aims to reintroduce V8 engines in Formula 1 by 2031. He has consistently advocated for a return to naturally aspirated engines with sustainable fuels, marking an end to the turbo hybrid era that began in 2014. Speaking to media, Ben Sulayem expressed:

“I am committed to bringing V8s back to Formula 1. Ideally by 2030, but certainly by 2031 as part of the next FIA regulations cycle.”

— The current generation of F1 power units is set until at least 2030, but discussions are ongoing about whether the next regulatory cycle will start that year or be postponed. Major manufacturers, including Mercedes HPP, have shown interest in reverting to V8 or even V10 engines. Ben Sulayem elaborated on his vision:

“V8s are lighter, simpler and more cost-effective, while sustainable fuels mean they can remain aligned with our environmental ambitions.”
