Our own @KHigginsMD from @COH_RadOnc presented results from NRG LU-005 at the plenary session. Disappointingly Concurrent atezolizumab did not improve OS or PFS (though consistent with most prior studies combining conventional RT and immunotherapy). #ASTRO24
Grateful patient Mark Prather wrote a heartfelt letter to the physicians, nurses, and staff who provided him with care during his cancer treatment, expressing his profound gratitude for their compassion and dedication. Hear from Mark, in his own words, about the impact City of Hope Orange County had on his life.
Dear OC Team,
I recently completed 30 sessions of radiation treatment in the Irvine facility with your team. What an amazing team you have!
Visiting 5 days a week for six weeks allowed me to meet many of them daily, from Nik at the front desk who always greeted me by name with a big encouraging smile to the lovely ladies at the desk in the radiation center.
Each time I came in one of the ladies asked me my name to find my wristband. Another day once I changed my response from Prather to "handsome," to "charming," they caught on and came up with their creative names. My favorite was "adorable." I told them we had to stick with that one for the duration of my time. :)
Julie, Miles, Dr. Schwer, and ALL of the other techs were amazing. At my bell ringing, I gave them a 2-minute speech about how important every one of them is to patients like me in bringing hope to our cancer fight.
I wish I knew everyone of their names for ALL of them are truly wonderful assets to the City of Hope.
In closing, I want to congratulate YOU for assembling such an amazing team and keeping them inspired for the very important cause of saving lives that the City of Hope does every day!
I have never experienced an organization at any level operating more efficiently, more beautifully, and more compassionately! This is a reflection of great leadership!
God Bless,
Mark

Spent Saturday night at the @franksstillhere gala raising money for (and celebrating!) the brilliant, kind and inspiring @montypal. So lucky to work with him and many other awesome docs like @cmhugen at @cityofhopeoc. (And was joined by amazing friends too!) Best night!
A beautiful physician appreciation event held by @DrEdKim to celebrate my terrific colleagues at @cityofhopeoc. Has been amazing to see the organization blossom under with his leadership. I'm down there once a week for clinic & couldn't be prouder to have folks like @cmhugen, @DrJeffYoshida, @ASchwerMD, @JCohenMD, @DrSCohen & so many others to work side by side with.
