AAC DRAGS TINUBU, AGF, NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO COURT OVER REFUSAL TO HANDOVER POWER TO VP SHETTIMA DURING VACATION
The African Action Congress (AAC) has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging President Bola Tinubu’s refusal to handover power to the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, during his vacation to Europe.
The suit was filed on behalf of the party through an Originating Summons on Monday, 28th September, 2026 by the National Legal Adviser of the AAC and Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.
Effiong is seeking a declaration that President Tinubu’s failure or refusal to transmit a written declaration to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to enable the National Assembly to pass a resolution to authorise the Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, to perform the functions of the office of President as Acting President is undemocratic, unlawful and a violation of Section 145(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The Party is equally asking the Court to declare that the failure of the National Assembly to pass a resolution to enable Mr. Shettima to become the Acting President after Tinubu’s vacation exceeded 21 days is unconstitutional.
The AAC also prayed the court to issue an order of perpetual injunction restraining President Tinubu and future Presidents from proceeding on vacation without complying with the provisions of Section 145(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
In a 30-paragraph affidavit deposed to by the National Secretary of the AAC, Mr. Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the party said that President Tinubu travelled out of the country on vacation on 30th August, 2026 and announced an extension of his vacation on 21st September, 2026 without offering any cogent reason.
In the affidavit, the party’s scribe said that the Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, instead of discharging his constitutional duties, announced gleefully that he had gone to the Prayer Ground of St. Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy, to pray for the country.
Joined as Defendants in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2353/2026 alongside President Tinubu are the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abass and the National Assembly.
The 2027 presidential candidate of the party, Omoyele Sowore, was in court to witness the filing of the suit.
No date has been given for the hearing of the suit.
Nigerians have the legal right, unmistakably, to record not just the police but law enforcement officers generally while they discharge their statutory responsibilities.

@InibeheEffiong As always, the session was very enlightening and informative.. No Police officer has any privacy while exercising public duty!!!
Kudos, sir
Peter Obi’s cautionary and endlessly diplomatic approach to issues and politics is not going to deter the Tinubu regime, governors and his political adversaries who are continuously undermining his right to freedom of movement.
At some point, he has to realize that fierce resistance and confrontation are necessary in certain circumstances in order cure madness and end impunity.
Anyone who believes that the APC is ready for free and fair elections is delusional.
We have no business with IREV. It is cosmetic. We must approach the 2027 election as if it is manual. We are back to 2003!
We arrive at the polling unit with the mindset to stay there for at least 48 to 72 hours. We watch every vote cast like hawks.
We count and ensure each vote is counted and entered as voted. We do not allow so called human error of votes not entered correctly. 160 cannot be zero!!!!
In the meantime, all unused ballot papers are properly cancelled.
Ensure that the correct figures are entered ooooh. Our business is not to trust INEC!!!!
From the polling unit, we follow the ballot boxes to the ward collation centre. We vigilantly ensure that the votes are not changed!
From ward collation centre we move to the local government collation centre.
From local government collation centre, we move to State collation centre.
AT NO TIME SHOULD WE ALLOW BALLOT BOXES OR RESULT SHEETS TO BE OUT OF OUR SIGHT!!!
From State collation centre we move to Abuja. let states send some representatives) to come meet us in Abuja and stake out where Amupitan will be collating the results from all over Nigeria.
We will be there till result is announced the way people voted.
This election must be personal to everyone. If you vote and don’t wait for your results to be entered then you merely did paper painting not voting.
As for those that do violence, let their families know it will no longer be business as usual. Let everyone call their children to order.
A CALL FOR ATTENTION TO PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP
President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.
There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear.
I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected.
We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election. @realDonaldTrump

Brighton bought a teenager for about £4m and sold him to Chelsea for £115m. The man running the club is a professional gambler. This week he did it again, paying £21.5m for an 18-year-old from the Swedish league.
The gambler is Tony Bloom. Before football, he made his money at the poker table and in sports betting, where the whole skill is spotting something priced too low and betting big on it. He bought Brighton and ran it the same way.
Caicedo is the one everyone remembers. Brighton signed Moisés Caicedo from a club in Ecuador for about £4m and sold him to Chelsea two seasons later for £115m, the most a British club had ever paid for a player at the time. Marc Cucurella cost £15m and left for Chelsea at £62m. Liverpool paid £35m for Alexis Mac Allister, a £7m buy from Argentina. João Pedro went the same way last summer, £30m in and up to £60m out, also to Chelsea. Same move every time. Buy a kid cheap, give him a season or two to get good, then sell him to a giant at the peak of his price.
The trick is that Brighton barely guesses. Bloom owns a sports-betting company, and the club runs a private piece of software that scans players across the planet and flags the ones going for less than they are worth, usually teenagers in leagues the big clubs cannot be bothered to watch, in places like Ecuador, Argentina, Japan and now Sweden. They look for the position they need anywhere on earth, plan a year or two ahead, and have a cheap replacement ready before the star is even sold. In late 2024 they let go of most of their human scouts and leaned on the computer instead.
And it works. Brighton made the biggest profit any club has ever posted in the Premier League, around £123m in a single year, and the Caicedo money had not even come in yet. They pulled it off with the 13th-biggest wage bill in the league and one of the cheapest squads in it.
Chelsea alone have now handed Brighton about £237m for Caicedo, Cucurella and João Pedro. They are paying for the very machine that keeps beating them. And two of the four clubs Brighton held off to sign that Swedish kid this week were Chelsea and Newcastle.
So an 18-year-old from Stockholm, bought for £21.5m, is just the next chip on the gambler's table. If the pattern holds, some giant pays over £100m for him in a few years, and Brighton starts the whole thing again with the winnings.
