On 17 October 1987, Simone Veil unveiled the #EndPoverty Stone on the #HumanRights plaza at Trocadero, Paris. She was the very first to read loud the pledge which became the annual #HumanRights call of @UN #EndPovertyDay each 17 October.
39 years later, @RoxanaMinzatu @EU_Social just launched the first-ever EU #AntiPoverty Strategy.
To honor the legacy of Simone Veil, let’s make sure that the Strategy integrates again a #HumanRights approach calling on EU Member States to fully ratify the @coe Revised #EuropeanSocialCharter.

On the eve of the announcement by the @EU_Commission of the EU #AntiPoverty Strategy , @ATD4thWorld joined forces with the @Europarl_EN's Intergroup on Fighting against #Poverty and @EAPNEurope to issue a joint press release including a call for:
- the meaningful participation of people experiencing poverty;
- adequate funding, including urgent strengthening of services,
particularly housing and the Child Guarantee;
- stronger and more comprehensive indicators to measure real outcomes;
- and the need for anti-poverty strategies at national level.

Three weeks ahead of the @EU_Commission's upcoming EU #AntiPoverty Strategy, the conversation must start with a simple but critical question: what is poverty?

Too often, poverty is reduced to income alone. But this narrow view overlooks the broader reality.
