Congrats, @DrZSB, on the launch of PECCIN in Nigeria. (PECCiN) is a powerful step forward in our shared mission to protect lives of women & girls across Nigeria. As Chair, Org Committee and Vice Chair of the @NTF_CCE, your leadership continues to inspire hope & action.
Yesterday marked a major milestone in our collective commitment to eliminate cervical cancer in Nigeria.
As Vice Chair of the @NTF_CCE and Chair of the Organising Committee, I delivered the welcome address at the official launch of the Partnership to Eliminate Cervical Cancer in Nigeria (PECCiN), a landmark initiative uniting national and global stakeholders in our collective mission to eliminate cervical cancer.
Under the leadership of @SenRemiTinubu, First Lady of Nigeria the launch brought together powerful voices and visionary leaders. We heard inspiring statements from @DrTedros, Director-General of the @WHO; @SenRemiTinubu, First Lady of Nigeria; Dr. @Muyi_Aina, CEO of @NphcdaNG; and Dr. @SalakoIziaq, Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, who has oversight of the task force. The unveiling was graciously done by Her Excellency, the First Lady.
Goodwill messages and strong endorsements were taken from governors, ministers, and partners, all reaffirming their commitment to PECCiN.
The audience was moved by a powerful short documentary on cervical cancer by @DrAishaMustaph1 and Annabelle Ayangbade and inspired by the voices of young school girls who received the HPV vaccine during the launch in November 2023, a reminder of why this work is so urgent and we must all support reimbursement of agencies like @gavi and @UNITAID that deliver life saving interventions to LMICs.
With pECCiN, we are setting the pace for action, accountability, and impact under the renewed hope agenda of President @officialABAT. Collectively, we can and must end cervical cancer.
