@EmbreeChristina i really like twitter but I have made it so I mostly see the same few people having lengthy conversations I learn a lot from. I marikondo people who don't spark joy
"Embroiled as they were in disputes over the person of Christ, the Church Fathers did not reflect deeply on the work of Christ but remained content with superficial ransom accounts." -WLC
what a fucking schmuck.
@David_Mahfood sorry to hear this, i've always enjoyed your writing and tweeting, i'm sure you've been a great prof. I hope you can find a place to continue teaching.
@TylerLeeConway I'm a pretty hard pacifist. Vaughxx Booker's story really shook me. Fact is I'm a white, straight, evangelical (on paper), dude. I'll happily be a meat-shield for my neighbor, but I now have a hard time saying deadly force is unjustifiable-no one has ever tried to lynch me.
@drantbradley@DrewLudwig suicide is routinely mentioned in gun death dialogue. the immediacy, accessibility, and lethality has a huge impact on suicide rates.
@David_Mahfood desert would posit that an intrinsic good obtains in a state of affairs such that proportionality obtains A better line of argument for the Dominican would be on the basis of desert rather than using it the way he did. also this isn't how DBH argues his point, so -2 for Ravenclaw
friendly reminder with today's lectionary that Jesus is not a sacrifice to atone or expiate sin in Johns Gospel. Likewise, the paschal lamb was not sacrifical. cheers.
My neighbor is out of town and the temps are gonna be -15 so I called him to make sure he left his cabinet doors open and heat on. I feel the most Midwestern I have in a long time.
@chrislashley Yup. I think seminary should be like med school-brutal. Year One you get Grk, Hebrew, and metaphysics. Year two exegesis and spiritual formation with a confessor and another gate. Year three maybe preaching, leadership, or soul care...
Listening to Owen Strachan makes my head want to explode. Imagine being so far lost that you think saying confession is needed for salvation is "an assault on the Cross"...
