Austin’s radical anti-housing group, Community Not Commodity, claimed in an email today that equitable, climate-focused housing reforms are “actively opposed by most if not all Austin environmental orgs,” but I’m not aware of any that agree w/ them.
Who are they talking about?
At what point does Austin earn the right to not specify what state it’s in, like these other big American cities?
Is there another well-known Austin in the US?
It's extremely undemocratic and disrespectful to Native Austinites that students are allowed to vote in City elections when they don't even live in the City, but on Campus.
Calling all higher education students! The City of Austin's Student Housing Survey is open through November 6, 2023. This survey aims to explore what student housing needs exist & strengthen the housing capacity on campuses. Link here: https://t.co/dmsHi47fwb
My ancestors fled dense cities on the East Coast in search of a more space and strict zoning enforcement.
By allowing three units per lot, ATXCouncil is desecrating the legacy of Austin's Founding Fathers.
Number of short term rentals in Austin with a City-required license: 2,201
Number of total listings, according to AirDNA data: 11,000+
This story might sound familiar. That’s because it is.
You should post a trigger warning before showing this filth.
Seeing the once-great Barton Springs Road reduced to a bicycle and scooter hellscape is deeply offensive to Native Austinites such as myself.
Austin should be more welcoming to young people.
I really love it here, but it took me forever to get on my feet. The year and a half I spent living between here and Georgia was so hard - I wanted so badly to finalize my move but just couldn’t make the finances work.
It will completely eliminate congestion if we let the adults at TEXdot do their thing. Unfortunately the Clowncil will make them put special lanes for bicycles, scooters, pogo sticks.
The bike lanes are already dangerously wide, why are they making them wider? Just a recipe for more death and destruction from lycra-clad cycling gangs and hordes of scooter hoodlums
these are great changes, and more housing should be built in hyde park so more people can live by streets where they don't constantly feel in danger of getting mowed down by cars
#Israel There is a broad lesson here applicable to lots of issues. https://t.co/bZmrZbFAWN
The early failure led to “a culture of contrarian thinking, built around critical thinking designed to challenge unitary assessments and groupthink.”
ATX City Council?
Project Connect?
Are these headshots in preparation for another run as a child council member, without real-life experiences, professional experience (excluding activist jobs), having raised a family, sent a child to school, or having had to pay ghastly property taxes on their home, etc.?
WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE WHINY CHILDREN!!!! like @GregCasar@CMZoQadri@VanessaForATX@joseforatx
It was a pleasure to attend the Bob Bullock birthday reunion with Jan & over 50 of us who worked for him. Bullock not only lit a fire under everyone’s asses to get the jobs done, he also lit a fire of public service in our hearts that still burns. Gov’t was better w/him in it.
