@WhatTheForkAVFC 100% on your 2 unsung heroโs ! All season gave their all , yes made mistakes but saved / broke down more attacks in return ! Unfairly singled out at times , but our heroโs ๐๐๐๐ป๐ป๐ป
Last night highlighted what a huge club Aston Villa are. They know that, of course. But it was a reminder to those tuning in from around the world the size of the club, the passionate fanbase, the quality of coach and players, and all by joyous royal approval, too. #AVFC
Was at Wembley in 96 and 94 , only 12 year old at home in 82 for last European trophy ( but at VP for super cup win months later ) . Sat at 5am in Oz watching this one ! Nervous as anything , bring it home - UTV
@NJShore55@historyrock_ Same - saw him once in Birmingham and Sydney twice and each time he stresses that doesnโt want to or pretend to โ replace or be Freddie โ but he did a bloody great job - superb
Villans
Only one Villa team have broken the glass ceiling in our European history, we know their names, immortal in the history of our great club.
Many of us have tried and failed to to bring a magical European trophy back to Villa Park.
I remember that night against Atletico Madrid, glorious failure on the night. I've never heard Villa Park so loud. The Holte lead the way, and young Villans in K3, K4, K5, you have the chance to do something special and louder. You can and you must.
Make this grand old stadium stand for 90 minutes and never relent for one damn second.
But the Holte End is one fourth of the jigsaw.
Trinity. We need you.
North. We need you.
Witton (sorry Doug). We need you.
Bayern Munich. Beaten.
PSG. Beaten.
Atletico Madrid. Beaten.
Anderlecht. Beaten.
Athletic Bilbao. Beaten.
Barcelona. Beaten.
Inter Milan. Beaten.
Ajax. Beaten.
Celtic. Beaten.
A handful of clubs have those scalps.
The special sauce in every win? You, Villans. YOU.
Every one of those wins, the noise rivaled anywhere at any time.
We face admirable foe and a special football club that I know very well. A club who believed in miracles and miracles came true for them.
Our players need our voices, our songs, our heart and soul on Thursday. Every stand. Every Villan, old or young.
Remember when you walked into Villa Park for the first time? The joy, the tears, the pride, holding the hand of your Mom or Dad or excitedly shephereded in by your big brother or sister or best mate?
Let the memory of them be your guide tomorrow night.
Sing for Spinksy, Birchy, Alan McInally, for Gary Shaw, for Brian Little, for Paul McGrath and for John McGinn.
To the players and staff, we know how good you are, and we ALL want you to walk into the pantheon of greats that adorn our halls.
As someone once said..
"The lows just make the highs higher. We are at the heart of English football, we have a majestic name, a decorated past, we serve as a shining light among our peers, we are Aston Villa ".
I believe.
We believe.
Villa believes.
UP THE FUCKING EUROPEAN VILLA!!!!
@OffenhamCC Great memories from what was a great village team / ground / wicket ground in Worcs . Cresswell , Mytton , Cockerton were just superb as grew up playing alongside them .
I think any progressive and ambitious Premier League club should now spend whatever they like and push the boundaries way past compliance.
Because if you only receive a paltry fine for adding players who materially helped you win trophies then it's worth it.
Was massively pro spending rules but clubs illegal spending prior to PSR isn't being punished at all and I bet those clubs are pissing themselves, all while clubs with the money to compete with them today are having to audit every fucking toilet roll, with promising home grown players being horsetraded like meat in order to comply with PSR.
Clubs and supporters should always support rules which protect our clubs from themselves at times, but dishing out fines that some clubs can find from the back of the boardroom sofa while directly profiting from the players "illegally" purchased makes a mockery of the system.
@marshallavfc Has to least of our focus just now , a must we get Champs League next year or all players we love will go . Top 5 priority then Europa as gets us CL ๐คทโโ๏ธno brainer . FA Cup win I would love of course , but long term a backward step
@BigKev67@marshallavfc ๐๐๐yeah FA Cup win , miss CL , and stays ? We will have to sell him to stay within FFP ? Surly you get financial issue here ? Iโd love trophy mate honest as there in 94/96 but different times ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@BigKev67@marshallavfc But missing the point - FA Cup is Europa league , we will get that anyway , but not enough as prize money this year v what we had in CL wonโt be enough !!! So , we lose players as have to sell , then wonโt get Europe ๐คทโโ๏ธ. Players want CL so lose players ? Itโs not hard ๐คทโโ๏ธ
26 games gone and 3 points behind City ! Inject it - unbelievable with restrictions we have had to face with rules , and the rules city of course donโt have to ๐คทโโ๏ธ
