We share this graphic every year and for good reason. Take a moment to review the dramatic differences in the visibility of various swimsuit colors when they are viewed poolside or lakeside looking into the water.
Today marks the official beginning of the 2026 hurricane season. Though El Niño conditions typically correlate with lower than average Atlantic Basin cyclones...it only takes one landfall near you to make it a "bad" year.
NEW from @NWSHouston | A Flood Advisory has been issued for Harris County until 5 PM.
🚗 Use EXTREME caution if driving

A flood watch remains in effect from now through Monday morning in portions of SE TX. Multiple rounds of heavy rain continues to be a threat through the holiday weekend, bringing an additional widespread 4-6" of rainfall to the area, and potential for flooding. #TXwx
The majority of flood related deaths occur in vehicles. Do NOT drive through flooded roadways, you don’t know how deep the water is. NEVER drive around barricades, they are there for a reason. Turn around, don’t drown. #TXFloodAwarenessWeek
Two outstanding members of the Atascocita Fire Department were recently honored during National Trauma Survivors Day at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood.
Paramedic Casey Pruitt and EO/Firefighter/EMT Jennifer Hannon were recognized for the lifesaving care they provided to a patient following a major motor vehicle accident. During the event, they had the opportunity to reunite with the survivor and the survivor’s family — a powerful reminder of why first responders do what they do every day.
Moments like these highlight the teamwork, compassion, professionalism, and dedication that our personnel bring to every emergency response. While our crews often meet people on the worst day of their lives, it is especially meaningful to see stories of recovery, healing, and hope come full circle.
Please join us in congratulating Casey and Jennifer on this well-deserved recognition and in celebrating the resilience of the survivor and family they helped along the way.
Also pictured are representatives from HCA Healthcare Kingwood staff and Atascocita Fire Department AssistantChief - EMS Sean Conley.
