Fantastic reception for Prof Nikhil Vasdev's presentation at #SIU2024NewDelhi on how an integrated approach to AI in prostate MRI could support exciting improvements in accuracy

This discussion on prostate cancer screening was an excellent session at a tremendous #ESUR24 conference. The perspective of the patient presenter - a prostate cancer survivor - was in stark contrast to the clinicians. (thread) 1/
Prof Valeria Panebianco is presenting to a packed conference room here at #ESUR24, discussing the state of the art in prostate cancer screening.

I understand the risks, but I'm with the patients. MRI and targeted biopsy greatly reduce costs and harms of #prostate screening. Soon #AI like that of @LucidaMedical will further reduce costs and harms. I get my PSA tested and if it rises I would not hesitate to get an MRI. 5/

Patients are anxious for better, earlier diagnosis, weighting this far higher than treatment harms, and the presenter here advocated passionately for increased #prostatecancer#screening. 3/

🎯This is an excellent example of targeted, risk-adapted screening. With AI, carefully select mammography-negative women to invite for a screening MRI. Investigate those with suspicious MRI. Result: detecting cancer in 6.4% of those invited, with potentially life-saving benefit.
