@EireGalloglaigh@SnakeHoppe There's also "Median Equivalised Household Disposable Income" which accounts for taxes paid and transfers received.

@EireGalloglaigh@SnakeHoppe GDP has its place, although its usefulness (especially in Ireland) can be diminished via tax advantageous multinational corporate structures.
Have you heard of Actual Individual Consumption? Eurostat looks specifically at the amount of consumption and adjusts for PPP.
People who work in the arts (specifically movies) really should structure their contracts to account for radical successes.
Essentially... flat rate, but if box office goes over certain amount, then proportionate royalties kick in. Surprised that isn't standard practice already.
@BladeoftheS Not true. This announcement pertains to a new laptop processor. Nvidia & Mediatek announced a partnership a couple of years ago to design PC chips. The CPU is designed by Mediatek (using Arm IP), and the GPU is from Nvidia.
Gerrymandering sucks, it's just legalized election rigging, and any district drawing is going to be biased in some manner. Would prefer state-by-state proportional representation to this.
@MarcGoldwein Of course, someone still has to pay, but leaving funds in a trust fund that will certainly underperform the market writ large is a waste. Also, it's very harsh towards people with large W-2 incomes.
@MarcGoldwein Keep in mind that eliminating the PR tax cap results in more money diverted into treasury bonds that have often yielded lower than inflation...
Basically deciding to light money on fire. I'd rather money get diverted from general funds than increase the payroll tax cap.
@Krissa_Kray_ One could view it like investing in a treasury bond, after all, any principal paid off has a guaranteed rate of return. Also keep in mind that past performance is no guarantee of future results! S&P could go sideways for 10 years, so paying off debt is fine.
@SholdonDaniels Maybe there should be a grace period after one no longer qualifies for those benefits. This woman would probably be able to handle moving relatively easily if she was notified and given a year to make new arrangements.
