AXIS is the next-gen X-ray telescope that revolutionizes the study of SMBHs and other X-ray emitters...greatly expanding our grasp of how the Universe works.
Check out AXIS science team member @DarylHaggard on The CRAM Podcast as she speaks about black holes and how AXIS will transform our understanding of them!

We’re also putting together an AXIS science book, please consider writing a science proposal for an investigation you’re passionate about! Drafts due Feb. 21!
The galactic plane survey will reach a flux sensitive of 10^-15 erg s^-1 cm^-2, over 100 square degrees where we expect to detect about 1 million X-ray sources!
One of the main AXIS is probing is how are relativistic jets launched by NS mergers? AXIS will identify and monitor 50 new neutron star binary mergers!

Additionally, AXIS will probe when galaxy clusters got their metals. Our current measurements go up to z=1, and AXIS will push these measurements up to higher z
A second question AXIS will probe is: Do AGN regulate gas cooling in galaxies? AXIS will do this by measuring the jet power from cavity power in 21 early-type galaxies.

Science team member @Fabio_Pacucci presents on the high-z SMBH science capable with AXIS!
AXIS surveys will be farther, wider, and faster than currently possible.
