Reflections on finding, buying, growing, and tending SMBs.
Owner of fabrication/home services biz, exited Search Fund CEO, looking for more AZ companies.
As a small US manufacturer, 80% of my COGS are imported aluminum components, which have just gone up 25% due to tariffs.
Any other SMBTwit folks in the same boat? Want to start a brainstorm/strategy group to figure out how best to navigate? DM/reply if so.
@suburbprepper@danielmullen From my research, if the parts are finished in Mex/CAN, they would be free of tariffs (until/unless the Mex/CAN tariffs end up happening).
@Roon_Dawg26 Mostly extrusions, but biggest volume is a specialty roll-formed product with polyurethane foam injected into it. I'm not sure about how proprietary the extrusion designs are either... but buying US is always appealing tome.
@MehtabKarta@eugeniolabadie It's an interesting idea - our components are large extrusions so it would be tough to limit to $800, and then the transport domestically of small amounts of long extrusions would be tough. But if our components were smaller that would be a good move. Thanks! @eugeniolabadie
