Here's my take on the recently concluded test series between West Indies and Bangladesh:

@YankeeGunner I also think he's not worth more than Anderson because of the same reason. Any midfield in today's Premier League meta can use Anderson. He's the best Rice approximation. I can't say the same for Rogers. But yes, he's somewhere around the 100m mark and Chelsea bit the bullet.
@YankeeGunner I agree that they paid market rate because the market for that rate was 1/1 club. But I don't think he's one of the best players in the league at his position because he doesn't have a fixed position? I can say we have Eze and Odegaard who are both better than him in his position
@austriangooner1 He needs to be involved more in the big games/adversarial conditions, he needs to be able to get on the ball more or do these kinds of actions more regularly. It's obviously easier said than done, but unless he becomes a serial xG overperfomer, he needs to be more available
@get_reggie@scottjwillis Maybe there was some miscommunication, I actually agree with your original point. I was actually backing it up because most of our marquee signing rumors are for players who have a reported valuation of 100m+ and none of them are sure things for that money.
@get_reggie@scottjwillis If that's the case, we might end up backing out from any marquee signing we're linked to so far because everyone comes with major doubts for the price point. And that'd be fine by me if we're prepared for that.
@PeterMu73825561@pedroelchileno Yes, Rogers is expensive for what he brings but so will others be. Any marquee signing we want will be 100m or close
If we go the other way, I'm fully okay rolling with our current attack and bolstering other areas and getting our team fit, but then that should be the commitment
@TeddyGambit@scottjwillis Unfortunately, that's what we need. Eze/Martinelli, Havertz/Gyokeres, Saka/Madueke is a perfectly cromulent attack and will need a big performer to upend any of these while keeping our current strengths intact.
@catlike1@scottjwillis From most of our attacking targets this summer (and last summer) I feel we're looking for good ball strikers and he's definitely one of them
While I'm not sure about him at this price, the only player we've been linked with that I'm more sure of is Alvarez & he won't be cheap
@SpareSp89131593@1_2spaces Cool story bruh. Still can't talk jackshit about performing for his country on the biggest stage though, can he? McT is probably a bigger Scottish legend than him, don't @ me.
@thestew_cf1@RohanJivanAFC We had 8 defenders last season before MLS was moved to midfield. Having defensive cover is one of the few things we're exceptional in terms of squad building.
I never heard about Guehi being interested, so Idk about that. But reports say he's earning close to 250k. Way too much.
@thestew_cf1@RohanJivanAFC Because Guehi wouldn't want to be a stopgap option here and we don't want to pay whatever wages City are paying him? Like we wouldn't be looking at Konsa if Saliba weren't injured. What part of this doesn't make sense?
@Shamsdale The problem is taking Souness seriously here. If Rice isn't world class because England finds a way to stink up the gaff, then England probably haven't had a world class player for 60 years.
