Hi @M_feeney I'm a journalist in Canada writing about drones and border security. I thought your Cato Insititute piece from 2018 was great; hope you can talk by this afternoon Eastern time on the same topic? I'm at adammcdowellto at gmail dot com if so -- thanks!
American conservatism just doesn’t appeal to me because I’m not scared of everything.. not scared of immigrants, crime, using public transportation, cities. I’m interested in other people and like talking to them. Even if someone is weird it doesn’t really bother me.
(whispers) nobody "removes a traffic lane" to build a bike lane, bike lanes are also traffic lanes because cyclists are also road users, we're just much more efficient users of urban space
What's really sobering about this clip is that for anyone who's only been watching politics since ~2015, I imagine it's not really obvious what the joke is
Rewatched the 2012 HBO film Game Change... many of its best moments are Julianne Moore pretending to be Sarah Palin watching Tina Fey pretending to be Sarah Palin
@jm_mcgrath@311Toronto As it happens @GraphicMatt's newsletter reported today that the city has extended animal carcass collection time from 2 > 5 days. Lucky you!
I'm literally pregnant with a child that would not exist if this childcare program didn't come into effect. We simply could not afford to have a second child.
We were budgeting for >$2k a month per child and now pay more like $500. It's a life-changing program & needs expansion
Sounds like the perfect place to build an attraction dependent on a new 2,000-space parking garage, and to relocate another that depends on convenient access for school buses.
@vona_robert hey there, I'm also a journalist in Toronto and wondering if we might collaborate on something. (Reaching out after reading your great piece on sports betting in the Eyeopener.) Please DM me to learn more!
@David_Moscrop Calgary. It's big enough, not already a capital city, and its selection might help defuse Western alienation (not to mention fostering French-speaking in a new place)
@jm_mcgrath Yeah, buckle up! At 46, I don't think I've aged visibly too much in the last few years, but my cholesterol and blood sugar results tell a different story
I'll be on QR Calgary (FM talk radio) to talk about this at 7:15 a.m. their time this morning; 9:15 Eastern. You can listen here: https://t.co/edBym2DXw2
Adam McDowell (@A_McDo): The skilled trades shortage is now a threat to Canada’s economy—and we’re not doing enough to plug the gap
