Ugh the concept of Qifrey losing his memory completely and the girls not sure how to navigate this but Olruggio is almost methodical with how to go about it. He’s been through this before when they were children. It was him who taught Qifrey how to smile. They can do it again.

Alaira is so underutilized in fanfics. I want her to be best friends with Olruggio and Qifrey. She’s the type that acted more mature than them, but always found herself coming up with excuses to join their adventures. She is their older sister and they’re her boys, doggone it.

@APolygons2 Pt 3 (final). The cultural landscape of fandom shifted over time yet fans from back then are still active carrying the perspective of fandoms from their era. That is just one example but if you dive into fandom history from an academic perspective, you can find other examples.

I disagree. Everyone will have different interpretations so headcanons cater to the individual. Your headcanon may contradict mine and both may not be supported by canon. That is okay. We all have interpretations unique to our life experience and how we engage with media.

Remember headcanon is meant to fill empty spaces in canon, it stops being headcanon if it directly contradicts canon

@APolygons2 That’s fair. I’ve also seen the term defined literally. Surely you’ve heard the phrase “if it’s in my head, it’s canon to me?” But then again I can see how that definition can be interpreted as fanfiction too. Seems to me that there are multiple interpretations of fandom terms.

@diesirate My current fic has over 24,000 words so far and only now I realize my villain who is a knight captain actually isn’t a captain in canon. I got his position wrong. Do I delete the fic? No! The character as a captain is fun to write! Turn personal headcanon into a fic! Enjoy life!!

@xMarrowofaBonex Exactly! In my day, fanon was separate as people were more into the popular aus of canon than the actual canon itself. I’ve already mentioned the Blue Sky fandom diverging from Portal 2, but lots of people made headcanons about that au during that fic’s heyday. Good times.

@APolygons2 I’ve always seen headcanon as a concept that supports fanworks and/or canon rather than becoming a supplement for the fan work itself. Perhaps it’s subjective depending on the fandom?
