The Governor of Yobe State has appointed this young and talented gentleman, Dr. Mohammed Goje, as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
This is the best news I’ve heard since the start of the month.
He is someone we know to be kind, humble, respectful, and highly capable.
I pray that one day he becomes the Executive Governor of Yobe State. May Allah guide him, grant him wisdom, and bless him with success in this new responsibility.
Someone wanted to use the Biafra card against Peter Obi to discourage my people from voting for him, one of them said "wallahi, I'd vote for even Nnamdi Kanu" 😂 and they all supported him.
This is the second time I'm hearing this from Arewa people 😅

Reviving Zamfara’s Textile Glory: Governor Dauda Lawal Unveils Strategy to Restore the State’s Cotton and Textile Industry.
Historically, Zamfara was famous for its vital role in cotton production, resulting in the growth of many ginneries and textile firms, making it the centre of cotton ginning in Nigeria.
Much has changed recently, with cotton production and overall farming activities continuing to decline in the state. While widespread insecurity, which has characterised the state over the past two decades, remains a key factor in this decline, the lack of quality seed has also caused a sharp decrease in both the quantity and quality of cotton produced by a few farmers who defied the odds.
As expected, this negatively impacted the existence of textile and ginneries, as cotton, the main raw material, has been in short supply. Consequently, an industry that provides employment and income for many, including farmers and numerous workers along the cotton value chain, has become dormant. The impact on security, unemployment, and poverty is disastrous.
A chain reaction ensues. Cotton production drops considerably, adversely affecting textile and ginning companies in Zamfara state and ultimately impacting the socio-economic lives of many citizens.
Why does a state that once had 15 cotton ginneries, each employing no fewer than 200 people, now have fewer than five? Why did the state allow Zamfara Textile Limited (ZTL), which was officially commissioned in 1965 by Sir Ahmadu Bello and employed about 3,000 workers, to fall into a decline, resulting in its shutdown in 2004?
Why has this sector, which provided employment and income for many families, become so moribund? What actions is the government taking to revive this vital industry?
To address this crucial challenge, the government and other key stakeholders must identify and tackle the underlying causes. What roles do insecurity, the lack of quality seeds, and the widespread importation of textile materials play in all of this? Can farmers be assured of good seeds that will produce high yields? Will the government summon the necessary courage to confront the importation of textile materials?

Governor Dauda Lawal Seeks Transformative Solar Power Deals for Zamfara With High-Level Investment Roundtable with Chinese Energy Giant GCL Group
The Executive Governor of Zamfara State; His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal has held a high-level business roundtable with GCL Group, one of China's foremost global energy conglomerates, as part of his ongoing strategic investment and trade mission to the People's Republic of China, a development that signals a major push by the northwestern state to attract transformative foreign direct investment into its renewable energy sector.
The meeting, which also included the Governor of Nasarawa State, brought together top executives of GCL Group, a company founded by renowned billionaire entrepreneur Mr. Zhu Gongshan, focused squarely on strengthening economic cooperation between the Chinese energy giant and Nigeria with particular emphasis on unlocking the vast solar energy potential of Zamfara State and accelerating the state's industrialization agenda through sustainable power solutions. GCL Group, which has an impressive track record spanning the entire energy value chain from thermal power generation to cutting-edge renewable technologies has successfully developed and deployed massive energy projects across China and numerous international markets, making it a highly coveted partner for subnational governments seeking to address chronic power deficits and attract private sector investment.
During the engagement, GCL Group executives expressed strong interest in investing in large-scale solar energy projects within Zamfara State, signaling a vote of confidence in the Governor's investment-friendly policies and his administration's commitment to creating an enabling environment for foreign capital. The company also indicated a willingness to explore broader strategic partnerships that would extend beyond energy generation to encompass technology transfer, local content development and capacity building for the state's workforce all of which are critical components of the Governor's broader economic development agenda for the state. The discussions were particularly significant given Zamfara State's abundant solar resources, which have remained largely untapped despite their enormous potential to provide reliable, affordable and clean electricity to households, businesses and industries across the state, thereby stimulating economic activity, creating jobs and improving the quality of life for millions of residents.
To ensure that the promising discussions translate into concrete and measurable outcomes, both parties agreed to establish a joint technical working group that will immediately begin the process of developing a comprehensive framework for collaboration, including feasibility studies, project structuring, financing mechanisms and regulatory approvals that will be required to bring the proposed solar investments to fruition. The establishment of the working group is seen as a critical first step in moving from dialogue to delivery as it will provide a structured platform for the two sides to address technical, legal and financial issues in a systematic and time-bound manner, thereby minimizing delays and ensuring that the projects are executed to the highest international standards. Following the initial work of the technical group, GCL Group has committed to dispatching an official investment and technical mission to Zamfara State to conduct on-the-ground assessments, engage with local stakeholders and advance the proposed projects toward the implementation phase, a development that has been warmly welcomed by the Governor and his team.
How Nigeria’s Mineral Wealth Is Being Handed to China

During President Tinubu’s two terms as Governor of Lagos State it was Alake who managed the Governor’s media as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy.

GOV. LAWAL SIGNS HISTORIC EDUCATION REFORM ORDERS, DISTRIBUTES NATIONAL CURRICULUM TO ZAMFARA SCHOOLS
Governor Dauda Lawal has signed Executive Orders to establish an integrated governance framework for education financing, school protection, classification, quality assurance, health, and security.
The governor on Tuesday also launched the distribution of national curricula to public schools during a meeting with education stakeholders at the Government House in Gusau.
A statement by the governor's spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that the reforms address school governance and operations, school feeding and student welfare, transportation safety, safe schools' implementation, and regulation of graduation ceremonies.
He added that further reforms include unified examinations, school health services, merit-based school leadership appointments, inclusive education, and the promotion of STEM, TVET, and digital education.
In his remarks, Governor Lawal said education is far more than a social service.
He said, "It is the most powerful instrument for reducing poverty, promoting peace, strengthening security, stimulating economic growth, and preparing future generations to compete in an increasingly knowledge-driven world.
"Today, we are turning that commitment into concrete institutional reforms by signing and presenting these Executive Orders.
"These Executive Orders are not isolated directives. Together, they constitute a comprehensive governance framework designed to strengthen school administration, improve accountability, protect public educational assets, enhance financing, promote safety, raise educational standards, improve learning outcomes, and prepare our children for the demands of the twenty-first century."
Governor Lawal emphasised that, for many years, education reforms focused primarily on physical infrastructure. While classrooms, laboratories, and learning facilities are important, experience shows that buildings alone do not guarantee quality education.
Earlier, Zamfara State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, said that successful education systems depend on collaboration among governments, teachers, parents, communities, traditional institutions, development partners, and the private sector.
"These reforms will not end with policy documents. They will be reflected in safer schools, stronger governance, healthier learners, improved teaching, better educational outcomes and greater public confidence in our education system."

GOV. LAWAL COMMISSIONS $200 MILLION ZAMFARA LITHIUM MINING PLANT, SAYS DEV'T DEPENDS ON RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Governor Dauda Lawal reiterated that development comes when resources are managed efficiently and transparently, and the government provides an enabling environment for investors to operate responsibly.
The governor on Saturday unveiled the Zamfara Lithium Mining and Processing Plant in Boko Village, Zurmi Local Government Area.
The 200-million-dollar Zamfara Lithium Mining and Processing Plant is a joint investment by ZAM Mining Company Ltd, Bima Mines Ltd, Jinlide Mining Co. Ltd, and other partners.
In his remarks, Governor Lawal described the unveiling as a new beginning to unlock Zamfara State's potential through responsible investment, industrial growth, job creation, and the sustainable use of mineral resources, with the people at the centre.
He said, "For many years, our State has been known within and outside this country as a haven of vast mineral deposits. Our land is blessed with abundant resources; the measure of this blessing is how it is responsibly harnessed to improve the lives of our people.
"From the inception of this administration, we made a firm commitment to change the narrative of the solid minerals sector in Zamfara State from informality to organisation, from exploitation to value creation, and from lost opportunities to shared prosperity.
"This is why our administration has continued to support reforms promoting lawful mining activities, attracting credible investors, and strengthening partnerships with the Federal Government to ensure mining activities contribute meaningfully to economic growth and development.
"The global economy is changing rapidly. Lithium and other critical minerals are central to the future of renewable energy, electric vehicles, modern technology, and industrial transformation. Zamfara State cannot afford to remain only a source of raw minerals; we must become active participants in the entire value chain.
"The establishment of this processing plant is consistent with our vision to move beyond extraction towards local processing, value addition, skills development, and industrial growth.
"Let me assure all genuine investors that Zamfara State Government will continue to provide the enabling environment to succeed. We will strengthen security collaboration, improve infrastructure, and develop policies that promote sustainable development.
"I hereby state unequivocally that our administration is committed to mining activities that respect the law, protect our environment, and provide direct benefits to our communities."
The governor emphasised that the people of Boko Village and surrounding communities must see this investment as a partnership for development.
"The people's well-being must be enhanced. I therefore mandate that the operators prioritise local employment, skills transfer, community development, environmental protection, and meaningful corporate social responsibility.
"On behalf of the Government and good people of Zamfara State, I congratulate all stakeholders who made this event possible.
"It is now my honour and privilege to officially unveil the Zamfara Lithium Mining and Processing Plant."
