Years ago, as a struggling small business owner, I decided to pay Christmas bonuses to my employees.

I had very little cash in the bank and was living on credit cards.

When I handed a $250 dollar check to one of my employees, they looked at it and said “oh, I thought it would be more” and walked out.

Another employee looked at the check and said “I know we are struggling as a business, so this means a lot to me”.

That employee went on to earn millions of dollars with me, while the other flamed out.
