@vonderleyen Also, more transparency, less advertising oppression and clear, open routes for consumer complaints plus actual, helpful responses from internet giants, instead of sheltering behind usa laws.
@cobookings In cases where we can make sense of the award badge "code", we edit it to point back to our home page. "Take that trip advisor"! We have also "used" the bookingCom button to point to FreetoBook in the past.
@beaufort_b @freetobook And that ยฃ10k in commissions does not even buy you decent service from https://t.co/VodFLn7lc2 - instead the b&b has to do all the running around while https://t.co/VodFLn7lc2 bosses get an extra paypacket at everyone's expense.
@vestager@EU2020DE@peteraltmaier Please address virtual monopoly of bookingCom and expedia in travel booking digital realm, also google and intrusive advertising and google play notifications
@freetobook "Exposure" is right! Exposure to price-bullying, high commission rates, unhelpful delays trying to get a response on requested room changes, invalid card updates, payments, descriptions, etc and constant extra administration effort and costs.....
@freetobook All we ask from bookingCom, expedia and the rest is the right to decide how much WE want to charge for our own rooms (also response times in hours rather than geological eras!) @freetobook@BandBassoc@cobookings
@marinabrid@freetobook As well as paying more through bookingCom, expedia, trivago, etc, customers are also losing out on the personal touch, flexibility on rooms or duration, deposit amount and refunds plus hoteliers have to battle giant corporations instead of looking after guests
@freetobook Also, the OTA is an extra problem for guests who want to change rooms, deposit, duration or get a refund. A direct booking makes all that easier, quicker and cheaper. #cobooking
@BandBassoc Curiously, google ALSO sells hotel rooms for less commission (7%+). I guess $billions of "easy" dollars from greedy OTA's makes more sense than working the "game" themselves. It all sucks money out of consumer pockets with less choice and flexibility as added "punishment$"
@BandBassoc@CMAgovUK@WhichUK In a "good" month, even a small b&b can pay over ยฃ1,000 to a greedy OTA in commission, that does nothing but advertise themselves above us with our own website - and all that money floods out of the country in $, draining UK economy, as well as ours.
@UKHospKate A neighbour did. No reply. Our MP alleged to be worst landlord since Rachmann (not by us) but definitely the least sympatico imaginable. Central Gov't cannot help. Council's are a law unto themselves these days. Not even a complaint category to use!
@freetobook Last month, bookingCom commission was more than our rent. Please book direct - it saves you money and keeps our business going. Plus, you usually get more flexibility over room choice, deposits and refunds.
@TankMuseum Did a tiny amount of work in connection with a successor vehicle - the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann "Fennek" reconnaissance platform (thermal camo for the thermal imager and mast plus sourcing anti-glare windows)
