I remember when I was a kid, sitting down to a nice Chinese restaurant. We were celebrating something, and eating out was extremely rare, and a huge deal. I remember my dad looking at the menu, waiter setting glasses of water out, asking for our order. I remember my dad muttering we couldn’t afford it. Remember having to leave the table and walk out of the restaurant embarrassed. If you didn’t have the money, you just didn’t do things. You couldn’t.
