Tesla market cap $1.47T
It does NOT deserve a valuation greater than all other car companies combined.

$125B BYD - largest EV maker

It's absurd that every kitchen appliance doesn't have a retractable cable.
Why does it seem like my zojirushi rice cooker is the only one that has that?!
A smartphone is a magic wand that is your key to interacting with the world and literally making magical things happen as you move through it.
We need training wands for children that are tightly limited in power.
While not good, the reality is that this rate might not be far off from natural human survival/reproduction rates, and it's not obvious that a higher rate is possible or maintainable.
Most humans died well before they had a chance to reproduce, and few ever thrived. Even 150 years ago, societal losers went out west to seek their fortune in the gold rush, most of whom failed. And 150 years before that, they took a boat across the ocean to the new world. And before that, they were pressed into the army to get slaughtered in a war.
It's just that the losers don't die anymore. They become NEETs and bitch endlessly online.
you're going to get K-shaped outcomes for men over the next decade or so
the top 30% who will be able to hit traditional milestones (career, relationship, house, kids, etc.)
remaining 70% are at major risk of downward mobility and ultimately becoming NEETs
Getting the Euros on AC should be easy.
We just need to start shaming them for wasting energy by not having heat pumps. Then they get the AC automatically.
This is nothing new, and frankly not at all hardcore.
Google engineers a decade ago were literally living in vans and using work amenities to effectively live for free.
High-paid tech workers are cutting life down to the basics so they can invest and retire by 30
One Meta engineer makes over $300K a year and still owns no car, couch or TV
More successful Gen Z are choosing calm life over career and money
retirement as sort of holy grail of "freedom" is the ultimate boomer lie
the goal of financial freedom is to switch working modes from survival to stewardship.
you will always push the rock, money does not change this
@bhirts@billybrizzle420 I should have said lack of rigid social hierarchy.
We don't inherit our parent's social status in this society. Whether you rise or fall due to luck or merit is irrelevant to the point that being downwardly mobile sucks, but it's also not everyone's experience.
Many of us rose.
@LadyBugDarling If you can't afford your area, you might have to move somewhere you can afford and maybe find your fortune enough to move back.
People have been doing this forever. You're not special.
The median home price in the US in 2026 is $400k and median number of rooms is 3.
It's genuinely funny to see people not understand that AC always has been greener than traditional heating.
This is why the world is migrating to heat pumps, which are literally just ACs in reverse.
But it's understandable. Heat pumps are weird!
@AlexTurlais That is a grossly misleading statement ! Heating contributes to environmental damage more than AC, only because it is much more widely used than AC. Lowering a room's temperature by 10Β°c takes tremendously more energy than making it 10Β°c higher.
@SeaGL_ Wow! Their performance is THAT bad?!?
If they had just partied for 30 years and finally in 2000 dumped $60k into VTSAX just before the dotcom crash and done nothing else, that alone would be worth almost $600k today.
10x return over 56 years is terrible. They got screwed.
@qwerty12702@GerdVonBarb Did their parents do the same jobs THEIR parents did?
Your numbers are completely wrong. In the past 30 years, house prices are up 3x, incomes are up 2.5x, and mortgage rates are down 2%.
You're making up bullshit numbers to justify your despondency.
@kylejhutton Housing is still in reach for the majority, even if it's slightly lagging previous generations.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of this difference is lifestyle changes. I rent by choice because I know VTSAX is a better investment than a house.
