By mandating real-time payments new legislation by @ChrisVanHollen@SenWarren@RepPressley will make it less expensive to be poor, saving Americansn who live paycheck to paycheck billions in overdrafts, payday loans, check cashing, late fees, interest.
amazing -- Karl Rove lists Ken Paxton's scandals: "You've got a guy who has multiple girlfriends and $200,000 worth of home improvements from a corrupt business guy for whom he does favors. My personal favorite is the Uber account in the name of David P. Since he drives around in a car that has [state] license plates, it made it a little difficult to have assignations with one of his mistresses, so the corrupt business guy gives him a fake Uber account and the records of that are now in his impeachment proceedings, so we know how often he went to have sex with Laura Olsen. I mean, can you make this shit up?"
“Family First” charges $32 per overdraft on any balance beyond $5 and if you don’t do that it charges you $32 in non-sufficient funds (NSF) and declined the payment. I’d call that family predatory. Way worse that almost every large bank. @FamilyFirstCU

Jane Smith was the CEO of Family First Credit Union in Michigan. She took a family trip to Canada and used AI to change their shirts to “own the libs.” She’s unemployed now.

A Jewish Walter Johnson High School student found a swastika drawn on their desk in chemistry class, and the teacher’s alleged response is reprehensible.
According to a Hate & Bias Incident Report now submitted by the student’s mother, when the student reported it to the teacher, the teacher’s alleged response was that it is “technically a Buddhist symbol” and therefore, in the teacher’s view, acceptable.
The report adds that when another student in the class raised concerns about it, the same excuse was given as a reason not to address the problem.
The family also states that the teacher did not report the graffiti to the principal immediately, did not offer to move the student to a different desk, and did nothing to document this potential hate crime.
The student did report the incident to the principal and shared that the main office was very upset.
There was no call home to the parents from the school or the teacher. The student had to sit through chemistry with the hate symbol still on the desk.
Is this what our children should expect when they walk into a @MCPS classroom? That antisemitism is acceptable?

Bank accounts of a Montana-based payments business working on behalf of Tether and Bitfinex have been seized by federal prosecutors who accuse it of making hundreds of millions of dollars of illegal transfers. https://t.co/9npH4sAhtV

“Today society is at a crossroads. Down one path lies the status quo: more data collection, more intermediary surveillance, more “know your customer” requirements that turn our financial rails into a panopticon. Down the other path lies an opportunity to use new technologies to improve our ability to catch criminals while collecting less personal information than ever before, and monitoring more sparingly to protect Americans’ privacy.” https://t.co/9fOpCwin3g
Tax reporting requirements really hamper #bitcoin use in payments, especially small dollar payments who are the majority of payments @Square sees — Chrysty Esperanza from
Humans use cards but machines will use what you tell them to — @RkBench argues stablecoins could be the embedded payment mechanism for machines especially for micropayments. @philadelphiafed#FinTech
@CaitlinLong_ I think it’s tragic the @federalreserve has spent the better part of the last decade building FedNow which has puny volume. Fed should have made FedWire 24x365 — @baerheel
Financial regulators need to guard their own houses against AI threats, while also working with banks to make sure the financial system is secure. My latest in @BrookingsGov w/Anisha Singhal and many more.
